I really liked him, even got his shirt after his performance at the 2023 Emirates Cup when I was intending to get Martinelli.
But, he’s aging and has started to show a little bit of sullen behaviour here and there, and maybe the move is good for him as well as us. I’m eternally grateful we got him over Mudryk, regardless.

Even without Eze. Havertz, Nwaneri and Madueke are on the bench. I assume as of right now Martinelli will start. We should cash in on a 30-year old. Enough bodies on the bench.

And we all know we’ve been a bit sentimental over the years, keeping players well beyond their useful value. To the point we’ve had to pay some of them off. I doubt Berta moves like that, given what we’ve seen so far.
Well this is the big test for Berta.
He’s demonstrated that he’s very good at getting players in, but how good is he at selling players and getting good value for them. Something that we’ve been terrible at for a long time.

Genuinely crazy to me there isn’t a queue of PL clubs looking for a guaranteed 15-20 g/a per season.
Like Sunderland are spending 20m on Xhaka whose a couple years older, but surely 15-20 g/a is worth way more than that?

If this same Trossard was playing for any other EPL team, the fee is £25m minimum…

We are seen as pushovers. We got good fees for Nketiah and ESR - that has to be the new standard. Trossard not being worth a third of Luis Diaz would be disgusting. We should be getting 25m pounds for Trossard and Nelson. Same for Zinchenko and Jesus. Will be pleasantly surprised if we clear 60m for the lot.
