Laurent Koscielny

This actually made me lol

I didn’t know this, or that that was even a thing. But yeah, if he agreed to such a contract then of course he’d have no argument.

Ha. Like he’d have the audacity to ask us to release him of his contract but pay him compensation lol

Of course he’d wave his compensation

What’s he really going to be remembered for? Being the best Arsenal defender during our worst years and making mistakes at pivotal moments that cost us the game.

Then to top it all off - he tries to force his way out of the club.

Sad really, cos in the context of things as a fan - this situation will only make me look for ways to downgrade his scarcely successful tenure with us.

Stand more to gain from letting him go. Bitter note to part ways on but there’s surely no way the club can win when the most respected member in the dressing room is willing to stoop that low.

Maybe if they got a public apology out of him they might be able to calm the situation somehow.

For now it compounds our recruitment problems as if they weren’t bad enough.

Obviously you weren’t around for the late 70s/early 80s.

Evidently not :relieved:

You can be happy about that. Especially the 75-76 season when Arsenal finished 17th.

Surviving relegation is like a trophy though

If this is the case, Raul/Emery are clowns for letting it get to this point.

Kos should have been phased out 2 seasons ago. He’s currently grossly overpaid for what he contributes.

A new CB should be on out agenda

Gonna try be more positive on things going forward.

We want to get rid of deadwood, and now one of our deadwood is begging to go? Be my guest. Fuck out.

In its own way, this is true.

Kevin Campbell telling it like it is. This is a perfect opportunity for us to make an example and instill some dicipline back into the club. No more pussy footing around like the Wenger days where players could do what they want.

I’m happy for us to throw the book at Koscielny, servant or not, because at the end of the day the club always comes first.

It could have literally happened overnight. Situations like this are hardly forseen.

Yeah, almost 34 and every time he plays I’m half expecting him to walk off injured. A paltry fee and clearing his wage should be an opportunity to secure a long term solution. This should be what the cash reserves are for.

A new signing this year with Saliba arriving next year could mean a new young CB partnership for the near future. Even with Kos staying, Saliba next year alone is not enough. Mustafi needs replacing so we should be looking to buy anyway.

According to Ornstein we had been in prior negations about his future, when Kos asked to be let go after returning the only sensible response should have been ā€œyesā€ imo

I see zero sense in retaining

It’s surviving death in some ways. Just look at the likes of league winners like Leeds, Derby and Forrest

Just want to point out that I made the same post and only got 6 likes. This is blatant anti-American bias on OA. :santi:

But I’m definitely not salty about it.
