He just won’t turn up again
Imagine he’d be fined again then, and eventually done for breach of contract if he continued.
I suspect he’d turn up and just act like a moody cunt and not take anything seriously.
Fuck this cry baby, sell him for 5 million and move the fuck on.
Incredible that we’re saying this of the club captain, but then again we’ve been here before…
If he’s prepared to pay out his contract why didn’t he just do that instead of thinking this was the way to go. That’s even more infuriating to be honest.
I doubt he’ll continue to be an irritant after this. He made his attempted power play, it failed and he looked like a cunt. I’m sure we’ll attempt to accomodate him but if Rennes don’t stump up the cash he’ll be a model citizen from here on out I’d imagine.
Just a touch below club legend status for me. Been a fantastic servant to the team and I hope he gets his due respect despite those two horror moments in 2011, 2018 and this extremely disappointing turn of events in 2019.
This term has lost all meaning these days. People don’t seem to realize that it’s ok to just not be good enough as a team to have legends, Ramsey wasn’t a club legend, Koz isn’t a club legend Theo Walcott isn’t a club legend.
For the past ten years we’ve been fucking shit, and that’s largely to do with having shit players. Any players who were good enough to be actual legends stabbed us in the back and fucked off to bigger and better things.
Actually can’t believe this, I’ve always loved Koscielny, good player, good captain, always been a model professional.
And for the sake of 5 or 10 mil (which he’s absolutely worth by the way), he’s throwing his toys out of the pram. If I was him I’d see it as mark of disrespect that the interested clubs aren’t willing to pay this meagre fee to sign him.
We’ve paid him his full wages while he was injured, including covering his medical costs, and as soon as he comes back he expects Arsenal to release him from his contract? Funny how he didn’t ask to be released while he was injured.
Quite happy to see him consistently fined and have him playing with the U23s all season, disgraceful behaviour.
So I’ve been reading that in his current contract this is an optional season, the actual contract ended at the end of last season. The club want to activate the optional year whereas Kos wants to walk away.
But to me this is irrelevant, it’s not like he wouldn’t have known this when he signed the contract…
That’s for next year.
It’s actually impossible to defend his actions. He’s basically going on strike as club captain to force a move elsewhere.
If this was the case he’d get his way and none of this would happen, surely?
One player can’t be held responsible for a long term club failure. It takes an immensely strong set up from the top down to win the big prizes. We as fans (and the players that were good enough) had some horrible luck here with management and a boardroom that simply wouldn’t take the financial risks to push us over the line when we could.
In those ten years you mention there were some seasons where we had a very capable team that got in great positions to go all the way.
I guess many firmly believe you can’t be a legend unless you were part of a great side. I think that’s just incredibly shallow logic.
I’m with you on Ramsey and Walcott (don’t know how he got into the conversation though lol). I think Koscielny stands much higher than that pair especially for his consistency.
He won’t be missed when he goes anyway for me.
Was a good player for us and I liked him but I basically hate everyone playing for Arsenal now so there you go lol
So what? The club had a years optional extension, which they have extended. He’s under contract
No because the club choose to extend it. He’d already signed a clause that allowed this in the original contract. It’s not optional for both parties
It’s worse than that, if he wants us to let him leave on a free. I could understand if Rennes or whoever had a fair offer on the table and he was begging for us to sell him, but to expect us to just rip up his contract (if that’s what’s happening), well I can’t think of any situation like that before.
If he agrees to waive his compensation I say let him leave tbh
£90k p/w is very useful
