This is a big moment for the electoral race. Labour behaved like this was a given for them.
The Greens did make use of the Muslim vote, yes, but that’s democracy. Their platform was more keyed to the constituents there.

To be honest, I don’t agree with that either.
I remember spending time in Williamsburg in New York a few years ago and being uncomfortable with the level of parallelism I experienced there with the huge Orthodox/Hasidic Jewish population that had totally taken over the neighbourhood with schools covered in Hebrew writing etc. and buying up property so that they would only rent/sell to other Hasidics. Gross imo.
My disdain for this sort of thing isn’t just limited to Islam, it spreads across all religions. I’m also sceptical of the various Mormon and Jehovahs Witness populations that I come across like this, although that tends to be in English.
Totally agree with your point, but it is only ever highlighted for Islam for whatever reason.
I would argue that it seems glaringly clear to me why it’s always highlighted.
The Muslim population of the UK numbers in the millions (6-6.5m from what I understand) while the Mormon/Jehovah/Hasidic populations tend to figure in the thousands.
Combine that with the fact that there haven’t been any Mormon grooming rape gangs uncovered and the almost daily occurrences and daily reporting in the media of rape and sexual assault by migrants or asylum seekers from MENAPT backgrounds and I think it becomes quite clear why it gets highlighted.
The very stark but uncomfortable truth for pro-immigration left leaning parties is that wherever the data is published (in countries such as Denmark, Sweden, The Netherlands and Finland) 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation immigrants from the MENAPT region are disproportionately represented in violent crime and sexual crime statistics. Given what we’ve seen happening in the UK over the last few years, then it is probably not unrealistic that the statistics would show the same thing here if the government were brave enough to publish them (and yes I am aware that white ethnic Europeans also commit crime, that’s not the point being argued here).
Now what common denominator is there in the MENAPT countries? Well, Islam as a religion features very heavily in their populations and they tend to have a higher rate of religious belief in the general population than we do and I think it would be fair to say that a significant number of the main tenets of Islam are very socially conservative and rarely compatible with the generally liberal views of European liberal democracies.
When you look at other ethnicities, that often tend to come from low levels of religious belief such as SEA (Vietnam, Thailand, Laos and China etc), you tend to see much higher levels of social and cultural integration and cohesion particularly in the 2nd and 3rd generations with a lot less connection to crime statistics as well.
Now I’m fully prepared for people to call me a right-wing racist Reform lover, but that’s simply not the case either. I don’t like Reform at all - I think they’ve been compromised by the Russians and I actually don’t agree with most of Reforms socially conservative and regressive policies (anti-abortion, anti-gay, anti-trans, anti- drugs etc. Ironically I think the average British Muslim probably has more overlap with Reform than with the Green Party) and I’ve basically voted Lib-Dem in every local election I’ve ever voted in.
Once I get my citizenship I would probably vote Tory in the next election but only if they swing back to a centrist One Nation small c conservatism with moderates like Tom Tugendhat in key roles (no more ERG/Bojo nonsense).
One the one hand, lol.
But on the other, I’m so glad their fucking arrogance can be shoved down their throats like this.
“Oh you HAVE to vote for us. You’re voting for the Tories / Reform if you don’t.”
That line has always been so revealing of Labour’s contempt for voters. Like people should be grateful to accept whatever shit they serve up.
“We’ll fuck vulnerable people over by a tiny bit less, aren’t we so wonderful?”
That’s probably correct when it comes to the next General Election. Interesting result, but it is a by-election.
Stop it Invincibles. I have absolute confidence Labour will not secure 27% of the vote at the next election unless both Reform and Greens implode.
I don’t totally disagree, but the argument is that ‘they’re not integrating’. The same could be said of the many other ethnic enclaves around the country.
Besides, a group being overrepresented in crime statistics doesn’t mean they should all be stereotyped. The criminals make up less than 1% of the group’s total population.
This is the example I really wish I had to hand a couple days ago. Vote Leave of all people!
These sorts of people have no principles, and sadly too many idiots in the public just lap up their crap about things like campaign materials in foreign languages
