La Liga

Bar that Atleti result, Madrid was having a great run, third best behind Arsenal and Bayern in Europe.

The way everything has gone downhill after the Vini sub is crazy.

Not common from him but I really hope Perez backs Alonso and tells Vini fuck off. Last time he did that was with Mourinho and Casillas, and Madrid came out of it better.
Forget Mbappe, Vini hasn’t even been better than Bellingham recently. If you want to be a diva, at least have the status to back it up.

Ultimately, I think this is exactly what it boils down to.
It’s not Alonso the problem, it’s the fact he’s seeing his status in the team drop and he can’t accept it.
Same seems to be happening in the national team with Estevao becoming their golden jewel now.

Xabi is not long for this Madrid job

Worried! I don’t want to see him at Liverpool anytime soon!

Zidane return return?

It’s hard to make an exact judgement on things at Madrid; on the one hand, you have ego and narcissism flowing through the entire establishment, so it really requires and elite coach to tame that or things just work out and align nicely. Or that Alonso is far out of his depth for a job of this level and that the BundASSliga is a prop job to help hype fellow coaches/players.

Could be somewhere in between but the stories that leak into the media from player/figures from Madrid make me feel a bit for Xabi.

The senior players didn’t seem to like the way he was pushing the youth through… A lot of ego in that dressing room. And Xabi is a bit of a greenhorn so the players don’t respect him like they would a giant of the game like Zidane. I foresee more problems unless Madrid start blowing teams away.

Ps: Vini is not as good as he thinks he is. He’s not even the best Brazilian player in the league.

Congrats to the Madrid morons. Somehow, someway, Barca are back on top.

Vini has also managed to surpass Martinelli and Leao for the most frustrating footballer I know.

Sounds like Alonso’s job is on the line against Bilbao…

I’m sure a 69th stint for Zidane will sort everything out. :ok_hand:

They should just rotate Zidane and Ancelotti there until the end of time

The caveat with Ancelotti and Zidane was that Madrid already had a fantastic core built.

This lot is nowhere near as good quality wise, professionally or tactically.

Said yday that it might be bad if Slot goes and Alonso decides to take his other old club, I worry Liverpool would be a much better match squad-wise for Alonso to work with. Hope it plays out some other way.

The whole transfer window in general. Crying in June, Kudus, Rodrygo. Meltdown over Isak to Liverpool. Berta going from hero to zero back to hero.

Tbf the late moves completely changed our window. Hincapie and Eze were pretty surprising at the time as one came out of nowhere and the other seemed all but confirmed as a Spurs player.

Prior to that, it was looking like another window where we address some problems and fail to sort others.
