Pretty outstanding at times. He’s such a good player he works so hard and he’s so physically impressive whilst also having lots of technical quality.
Barca fans rated his performances against them (minus some stupid decision not to press on one of their goals). Can’t even begin to imagine how good he’d look playing in their system tbh.
But yeah, clearly a world class player and the Bellingham hate (not specifically talking about darkseid) has always been a bit odd to me. Can see why people would dislike his character but when people deny his talent I think it’s outrageous.
He’s been playing with an injury too. Let’s see what Alonso can get out of him
In isolation it’s a decent season but I think the issues I have with him are still valid, kind of player who needs/wants to be played at #10 to be most effective, that’s like a luxury player in my eyes.
He’s going to have to learn to play deeper because that just isn’t sustainable at a top team especially one like Real because Bellingham is no playmaker, he can’t run an attack.
I don’t really rate his technical ability that highly either
Does a lot of running but at times it’s a question of to what end. Just isn’t my kind of player.
He’s done an excellent job playing deeper for Real Madrid. The teams lack of midfield cohesion, attacking balance and defensive frailties aren’t on him that’s just bad squad building from above and injury issues.
Real Madrid are one of the teams I watch most outside of Arsenal and Bellingham has had a good season and has adjusted very well to playing in various different roles in the midfield.
Have to have some sympathy for him too because the midfield has not been good this season due to poor squad building and his role shifted completely because of the Mbappe signing and he still adapted to those challenges.
What has happened to the reputations of Tchouameni and Camavinga?
Two highly sought after CM’s that I think a lot of Arsenal fans wishlisted a couple of seasons ago. They looked destined for greatness with their moves to Real.
imo: The initial plan was surely to rebuild Modric-Kroos-Casemiro with Bellingham-Choo choo-Camavinga.
They have since had massive problems with CB injuries (Militao almost back-to-back season long injuries, Alaba almost season long injury, Carvajal one + one half season-long injury) so Rüdiger had to step up but besides him they’ve scrambled to get another CB partner on and off for like 2 years, so choo choo has been standing in as a CB so much that his development in midfield has taken a hit.
Camavinga was promising af but have had a million small and nagging injuries, for long spells he has played a one or a few games then been out injured for a week or two, repeat, which has hampered his progress as well and he has almost regressed in some aspects. A combo of that and the fact that they’ve had problems at FB as well means he has ended up playing LB occasionally when fit as well, which is where he might end up unless he can change his trajectory one way or the other.
Both of these guys needed to play a lot in their intended role I feel and they’ve both been hindered from doing so for different reasons and rn they have like.. a couple of games of experience playibg together the three of them (/w Bellingham).
Unfortunate mess for them, I think Florentino and Carlo planned correctly but were kind of unlucky and had to make do at the expense of other things.
