Oh no, now he won’t have any power in his shots :jorginho:

Yeah, I don’t get why Havertz wants to be a hulk anyway lol feel like it’s probably worse for his game

Thinking about the return of Kai and I’m feeling even more positive about our position in the league and how our attack should improve.

The task for Arteta and his coaches is how they implement Havertz in the team now that we have a bonafide number nine (or two - Jesus). I think the original plan of playing Kai as a left-eight CM is a really interesting one now that we have a lot of tape of his general play. It would mean sacrificing one of Rice/Zubimendi/Ƙ or Eze for one of those other CM roles to allow for this and as much Arteta rates those players, I think the temptation of wedging Kai into the starting line up maybe overwhelming.

My thinking is that Gyƶkeres will be the beneficiary of space. He’s had to fight that front line and get too involved in the throws of the battles - sprinkling Havertz into the fold creates new problems for teams.
Gyƶkeres as the foil for Havertz to exploit the vacant space and those ghosted runs, more distribution into the left spaces for the Gyƶkeres channel - this adds another layer to our attack that might be pivotal going into this second half of the season when teams have settled on how to play against us.

Or Mikel Arteta will simply look at it as a straight rotation swap - a-9-for-a-9 - type of deal. I couldn’t sleep last night thinking about it though

We’ve seen numerous times that Havertz in midfield doesn’t work. It isn’t something which needs to be revisited.

Havertz as a left midfielder isn’t interesting at all. He doesn’t have the technic, (short) passing, dribbling or the creative nous in general to succeed there.

If it will happen as you say we will basically play 4-2-4: the midfield will get overrun.

The only way around this would be to play Havertz just off Gyokeres. Odegaard presses very high, so Havertz would take on that role with the additional bonus of physicality and goal threat. Our play would suffer though as Odegaard is the guy who links the play.

We aren’t dropping Odegaard so this is not happening.

Even less now, I’d assume, as he got a bit heavier and has barely played there since almost two years ago.

Old school 4-4-2

Long throws into Havertz and Gyokeres. The media will be spitting feathers of anger.

I actually like it but Odegaard is a guaranteed starter.

I disagree, he links well up front and is a great mediator between players when receiving a lofted ball for example. Hold up play is excellent and a great way to facilitate Gyƶkeres.

You can go 4-4-2 but Arteta probably doesn’t go that route.

Arteta will want to squeeze as many of ā€˜his guys’ into the team as possible. Havertz is top of the pile and I can see him either being a defacto rotation for Gyƶkeres or positioned as the LM.

Completely forgot about Odegaard lol

Havertz at LM, Merino at ST - wouldn’t rule it out under Arteta. The stuff of nightmares :pires2:

To be honest if Havertz and Merino are ever on the pitch together there is a good chance they will position like this but switch positions continuously throughout the game.

But how does this make him a good left midfielder? When he links up well UP FRONT.

I’ll be glad of his return taking pressure off of Gyokeres. Can only benefit us in the long run.
