Rice scored the winner in dying seconds… I was so nervous

It was as good as the Nelson winner against Bournemouth but the Luton game was more exciting.

Our best player by far for me. I could definitely see the rise in confidence others mentioned.
Would have nicked us a point too if not for the shitty refereeing.

His run into the box was pretty effective tonight.

Too bad our players just picked him like 1/3 of the runs he attempted.

I was moreso impressed with what he did on the ball.

Somehow the calmest out of our front 6, even Rice wasn’t at his usual best.

Another good game and putting together a sequence and that is what I’ve been looking for

Today he was up for it and played a couple of lovely passes that really should have punished Villa if not for poor finishing, continues to trend upwards

Should have 2 assists and a goal…

But he stepped up tonight, which I am happy.

Yeah he was rather good and unlucky not to have an equaliser late.

Didn’t watch the game, but it seems like he put in a terrific performance from what I’ve heard. Hope he continues to, seems like we’re getting the Kai from a few years ago.

Only player (probably with Rice) that could leave the pitch with his head held high.

I’d give him a 7 or 7.5.

The more he plays, the more it looks like he is not really a Xhaka’s replacement.
Kai’s game with us is more about getting into pockets/box late, and creating space/chances for his teammates.
More like a 9 1/2, in between 9 and 10.
He is not playing the passing game like Granit.

Defensively, I think he is already better.

He was really good today imo. Been getting better with every performance lately.

He did his part others like Saka, Martinelli, Odegaard let us down.

He’s been great the last few games. He fully recovered from his Chelsea-19 illness

Probably made more intelligent runs that some of the other forwards.

he had at least half a dozen run attempts ignored by his teammates, I counted that. @DavidHillier acknowledged that as well.

His teammates saw him, but opted not to pass… WTF
Jesus dropped, Kai ran into space…

Wish Partey was there.

Good game. Nice channel runs and some tidy play. He’s definitely coming around.

The only positive we can take from the game against Villa is Kai’s performance. This is the first game where I could see exactly why Mikel signed him. He’s one player in our attacking lineup that doesn’t want the ball always. Saka, Martinelli, Ode, Jesus all like having the ball, but Kai on the other hand, likes making runs behind the defense, use his physical attributes, and create or score.

You just knew if we were to score, he’d be involved, and it nearly happened. I really hope yesterday’s performance would be the new standard for him.
