Thought he did well. Don’t want to take it all away from him but that was a game where the opposition let us play the game exactly how we wanted to and even then I can’t find anything more to say than that about his contribution today.
The amazing thing is that Arteta saw him for Chelsea in the PL and still thought he was worth 65m.
At best his performances for us could be described as competent so we could have bought an equally good player for a fraction of the price.
Played well tonight
Tbf to Arteta, Madrid wanted him too and he was Bayern’s backup target in case Kane wasn’t gonna happen(until we snapped him up).
The way it happened it looked like Arsenal were alerted when the Madrid rumours came up and moved on from Mount/Gundogan(tbf, neither looked like happening).
We really rushed to get this over the line and made him our first transfer of the summer over Timber and Rice.
I think Raya was a similar case too. Shortly after Bayern were looking to sign him on loan we entered the race and got him on loan instead.
Arteta on Kai Havertz’s performances of late:
For me, against West Ham in the first half he was the best player, Newcastle one of the best, and today, again he was really strong, I’m really happy with him.
Talk your shit boo.
He was good against Newcastle but Arteta gassing him up after one bad, one good and one mediocre performance is so ridiculous.
I was surprised to see trossard up top last night. I really thought Kai might get the nod, but not so. That has to mean something. Would Kai make a decent left back? (Joke)
Yea, some would say “left back in the dressing room” (worse joke).
It obviously means that Arteta sees him in the midfield and not up top.
He is clearly looking more comfortable in the midfield as games pass and is growing in his involvement in games. I get everyone wants him to click immediately for the price tag but I still believe he can come good and be an important player for us.
Ronnie gonna die on this hill lol. Gotta admire the tenacity
Obviously the majority in here are against him but @ronniec isn’t the only who’s backed him.
We will see…
It might work out semi ok for Havertz at Arsenal in the long run, but I can’t see it being in the no 8 position, he’s legit better on the right side, no 10 or CF than he is at no 8.
Considering the fact the club will most likely buy a striker (if they continue to be serious) it’s either 8 or bust as a starter, if he can’t firmly make the 8 his own then it’s most likely a squad player at best.
The Madrid and Bayern links are rubbish because they were never going to pay that money for him even if there was a slither of interest it wasn’t serious, using that to prop him up means sweet FA. No doubt they look at the decision to not genuinely entertain the transfer as astute now.
An alternative to Kane you know, some just believe anything.
I agree I think we’ve spunked 65 mill on what will end up being a good Jack of all trades squad player.
In the summer the club need to sign another forward and a no 8.
Yeah but there’s backing and there is Ronnie
Having tried everything else it appears Mikel has now resorted to speaking Havertz’s effectiveness into existence. Good try but it’s not working, not so far at least.
Maybe Arteta took one of those “manifesting” workshops and he’s trying out some of the techniques?
Been shit again. Running out of opportunities
Doesn’t look like he will score today as well.
He is playing well but He is no better on the right side of the midfield.
