I think in his first year at United it looked like he was somewhere that somewhat suited him. But when they wouldn’t buy the fridge he wanted it was all downhill from there.
He always said his dream was to go to United and be manager for a long stint so that he would have in his resume being a club-maker similar to Arsene Wenger and SAF, not just a 2-3 seasons manager at various clubs. Something happened when he got the United position he wanted. He didn’t seem to dig down enough to make his dream come true, but it is also the case that as at Real Madrid he had a penchant to engage in power struggles, and United were not having him trying to run roughshod over the Woodward position, for example.
I’m sure I read about 3 or 4 years ago in a Portuguese newspaper that he wasn’t interested in the Portugal job, can’t remember the specifics of the interview but it certainly came across like that. Probably just waiting for Ronaldo to fuck off.
If it even needs explaining why propagandising for ex-Chelsea, Man U and Spurs manager Mourinho might not go down too well on an Arsenal forum then you probably wouldn’t get it even if I took the time to explain it lol.
Haha sometimes I am convinced you take a contrarian stance for the sake of it. You know full well that idolising Mourinho - who denigrated Arsenal and Wenger at every given opportunity and managed our 3 biggest rivals - is not going to be taken well on an Arsenal forum.
