I wonder where this puts Ancelotti given he doesn’t seem to be hitting that coach decline a lot of great managers reached. Or perhaps it’s right around the corner.

He certainly did around the time he took over Bayern. The media absolutely murdered him. Lots of leaks by the players that he was a dinosaur and that the training sessions were the worst they experienced, not from being too taxing but the opposite.
He then took over the Napoli job which was his first significant step down, which he did just about how you expect and then found himself back in the PL for Everton. I think at that point it felt like he was done at the top level.
The Madrid job revitalised him. Sometimes certain clubs and managers just fit really well.
I feel like Madrid just doesn’t need your modern geek coaches that want to micromanage everything from a tactical aspect.
Actually managing a dressing room is the key skill you need. Zidane was the same. Mourinho too but he does have an expiry of 3 years max(lol).
Just find a system that fits all the stars and keep the locker room happy and motivated.

I don’t think the Bayern thing was a decline, just a mismatch of coach and club culture…and honestly you can argue Bayern are still searching for a Pep successor as evidenced that they keep changing coaches.
Everton was the first big step down, let’s be real by that point he joined the days of Everton being a 7-5th club under Moyes was 8 years ago.

They’ve certainly moved into that Abramovich mentality of switching into the next best thing they can get every year or so.
You may say it’s part of the strategy. Whatever side starts getting too close to them they start upsetting them by getting into their best players’ ears and especially the manager.

that’s what happens when you shift from club to club as a manager, can no longer attract top jobs anymore.
People like Kompany are managing Bayern and a serial winner like Mourinho can onlyget a role at Fenerbache? 
The Klopp, Wenger, SAF, Arteta, Pep levels of tenure seems to be incredibly rare at the top level. 
That’s what happens when checkbook manager is asked to manage regular clubs.
I wanna see Pep take a project and prove he is better than Mourinho in that regards.

Many of us want to see him do that but he will never. He has always needed top quality players to do his thing. He’s not the kinds who will work with what he has.

How much more money will we have to spend in order to win the title?
One of the biggest criticisms of Wenger for example is the fact he didn’t spend the damn money when he should have.
Pep having to do more with less in order to prove himself is a nonsensical notion.
