If we went on to grab one back, maybe we can look at that pass as a gane changing moment. We didn’t, so it wasn’t.
Game was dying before he came on.

We lost complete control of the game and conceded
both goals after he came on .
The pass he attempted for Martinelli was not only incredibly tough to pull off, Martinelli was visibly offside.
I know Zinchenko is the only scapegoat nowadays but Jorgi struggles quite a lot defensively too.
Happened against City, happened against Bayern, happened against Brighton and yesterday Villa.
It’s a shame Partey is equally as washed out of possession nowadays.
the only thing he can rightfully be blamed for is that he had fuckall to do with the result one way or the other.
Jorg had a mare though, so did Rice, both have been stellar, sometimes magnificent in tandem, for months.. but both lost control of their areas of responsibility in the second half. Unusual by their standards this season tbh. Maybe partly due to tactics, but it was weird to watch.
An advice I heard recently was “solutions have a lifespan”.
Jorginho is a very good asset on and off the pitch but at his current age, there are certain weaknesses in his game that can make him a liability.
A big reason why I feel Jorginho shined in certain matches before as that teams didn’t expect him to play. Caught City off guard once, caught Liverpool off guard twice. In all occasions Jorginho didn’t start the previous games and was a bit of a surprise.
When we played City the second time, Pep expected us to use Jorginho so they targeted him.
Unfortunately, we’ve given him a bigger role than expected due to momentum, fitness and other issues. I reckon the plan was Partey taking over but that hasn’t worked out.
For what is worth, I fully expect Jorgi to play against Bayern on Wednesday. Hopefully the news about Bayern missing Gnabry, Sane and Coman are true or Arteta will make adjustments to prevent him being exposed.
Where were these Jorginho concerns when we were pumping teans by 4, 5 or 6? Our defebsuve unit was the best in Europe with him in front of the centre backs.
He was poor yesterday, but fuck me, he’s got Credit in the bank. Zinchenko has CCJs all over the gaff.
I think it was Arteta making another tactical error not starting him then bring him on late.
You do realize that Jorginho didn’t start for the majority of those games, right?
Mind you, I’ve seen others think that way so it must be a Mandela effect.
I know ESR started one. When else did Jorginho miss a game over the past two months. I’m fairly confident that it hasn’t been frequent.
In 2024, he started against Liverpool, Newcastle, Sheffield Utd, Brentford, Porto, City, Brighton and Bayern.
We only scored 4+ goals in 2 of them, Newcastle and Sheffield.
How many games have we scored 4 plus in this calender year?
Can remember the West Ham and Burnley batterings, but not the other. Fair enough.
Still not convinced that Jorginho is a weak link.
(it’s the very first one of our run, the game against Palace)
I mean, he ain’t useless. And if you use him appropriately he’s a big asset.
He shouldn’t be one of the first names on the team sheet for me. I think it’s a bit damning about the state of our midfield depth that he’s played as much as he has this season.
Highlights the absence of Partey, and to a lesser extent Vieira/ESR who need to do more.
We’re lucky Havertz, Rice and Odegaard have kept fit despite playing constantly, often enough playing full games, while also being key players for their national teams.
Or has he played that much because a Havertz, Rice and Odegaard midfield misses certain qualities? It seems if those three players start we either need Trossard as a striker, or Jorginho as a single pivot and Havertz as the striker, because without one of those two, with those three, our passing game declines.
It’s got one guy trying to shoulder the entire creative burden that should be shared across 3 players.
good rotation/squad player.

Xhaka must be fuming.
Was thinking baout this the other day, glad we’re looking to renew, always good to have experience like this around a young squad pushing for honours.
The difference is, Jorgi happy to be a rotation (if he renew), Xhaka wants a starting role.
