Jorginho

Indeed but it’s not particularly reliable sources yet. I’d be a bit cautious with them because that’s what we were hearing about Xhaka last year around this time too and later we found out that wasn’t the case and one of the reasons he left was that the club wasn’t actively looking to extend him.

If Jorginho is happy to stick around as a bit part player, it would be remiss not to offer him a new contract.

Baller.

This guy is so good.

Glad to have signed 2 Chelsea rejects who turn out quite excellent for us.

Also goes to show, sometimes players fade at clubs, but with the right manager / set up / circumstances they prosper

I’d say there are a few more at Chelsea who are underperforming but are in reality better than what we are seeing

If the next CM we buy plays anything like Jorginho is now, I’d have a boner :giroud2:

My worry with him based on how we played last season, was that he might get ‘caught’ on a turnover, or out-muscled off the ball.

Having Rice next to him, Ødegaard being a menace ahead, it feels like we’re facilitating all of his positives while other players clean up and allow him to control. Some of the passes he plays through the lines has me very excited.

He’s been fantastic for us and it’s even sweeter knowing that Chelsea are a complete shit show bunch of cunts.

Really satisfying that we finally got a good one from Chelsea and he came at a snip. There’s really no need to replace him unless it’s a serious upgrade.

David Luiz was pretty good as well. Played a big part initially with Saka and Martinelli.
Both give hin shout-outs to this day.

If Jorginho is a squad player then you know the first team must be very good.
Buying him and Trossard relatively cheaply in the same window was excellent business.

Yeah, of course.

That’s exactly why I was always super confidend with Jorginho on the pitch, having Rice next to him.

Having Xhaka next to him would have been/was a different story. I mean he did well, but Xhaka can’t win the ball, generally win his duels both when he’s on the ball/trying to keep it or when he’s out to win it, nowhere nearly as good as Rice. Plus, Rice is much more mobile too and a better athlete.

All that actually makes Jorginho an even bigger weapon in our team this season compared to the last one, considering there’s less weight on him defensively, plus to cover the pitch im general and to WIN THE DUELS.

Plus, Ode, and the whole team, how well we press as unit, how good/compact our transition is etc.

He would be dead in a Wenger system, being isolated and left to fight for his life.
It’s so good we have a competent coach now who can utilise some players with big weaknesses and make them an actual strong point in the team by making great system/unit in general (as peak Allegri did with Pirlo for example).

Our football is better with him in the team. It’s as simple as that.

Can’t drop Jorgi atm, he’s just helping us tick.

Yup - Rice / Jorginho / Ødegaard is working really well atm. Blowing teams to smithereens.

No need to change a winning formula. Jorginho should absolutely keep his place.

Partey is really rusty currently too, no way he should walk back into the team. I wonder where / how he gets his match sharpness because every game is must win. 25 mins at the end of games when Jorginho is subbed off?

I love it when he pings it to Odegaard, and yet he somehow manages to one touch control

I’m not a doctor but I think if those are in fact arrows, you’re dead.

His forward passes and control he brings since coming back into the team have been beautiful to watch.

When you look at

  • how deep the opposition to his signing was
  • how much he was hated as an opposition player generally
  • the way Chelsea fans started to hate and blame him towards the end
  • the reactions to his mention in Ballon D’Or nominations etc

He has to be one of the most disrespected players in recent times. Arteta has recently had him playing some of the best football of his career imo. His experience and reading of the game is invaluable.
