James Bond

Only film I wanna see in cinemas right now is Venom. Ever since I was a kid I always loved Spidey, and really loved when he and Venom teamed up to take on Carnage.

I’m not sure how I felt about Hardy’s first Venom was a little more unique than most superhero films that but I felt like they really wanted to make it dark and violent but in the end decided to draw the rating back a little.

I’d love a new Spawn reboot, film or show, do you remember it from ages ago?

Still worth it even know it’s spoiled for you now mate. Will be brilliant in IMAX

In fairness Cristo spoiled it for himself he’s not a true casualty like me and Sol.

If you haven’t seen the film and want to watch/enjoy the film I’d suggest never opening this thread again until you’ve watched it.

Like @Cristo I bought expensive IMAX tickets so I’ll put this thread on mute for a while

Back with my poll, but this time in the correct thread!

What’s the Best Bond film? Vote for your top 3…

Only able to create a poll with max 20 options, so have removed what I would consider to be 4 unpopular Bond films (For Your Eyes Only, The Living Daylights, Die Another Day, and Quantum of Solace) and No Time to Die, which has only just come out (thank you @Calum for pointing that out!)

Definitely feel like the Daniel Craig recent Bond films are benefiting from a large dose of recency bias. Only memorable Craig Bond film is Casino Royal. I can’t even remember Skyfall. Is this the one where M is like hiding in her country house and Bond stays with her? Only part of the film I can recall.

Skyfall was dog shit no idea why people rate it so highly. Can’t fucking stand Judi Dench.

You’re right Casino Royale was a revelation, really felt like they were achieving something there, yes the camp fun got lost and replaced with darkness but at least they managed that, the rest of Craig’s Bond films are so aimless and vanilla.

I know it’s contrary to the entire series but Casino Royale deserved to be a one and done. Mads, Eva Green and Craig were all sublime any fought each other to steal the scene. Casino Royale as a one and done would make a stand for the best Bond of all time easily, unfortunately I feel like everything that came after really just diluted the greatness.

Still one thing that would interest me much more than who is the new Bond is if Tarentino ever got his shot at it, good or bad that is one Bond film I’d go to the cinema to see.

@BigWeng_4LYFE I actually went to see Spectre when I was at University at the cinema, and I completely forget until now. Like I genuinely can’t remember a single scene and I paid money lmao. Part of me even forgot it was a Bond film with Craig lol

Yeah same here in regards Spectre. I saw it in the theater and don’t remember much. The Bond girl I think was some super hawt Northern African and I think I remember a desert and Bond blowing up the bad guys entire complex or something along those lines? That film in particular was bad because there was a writers strike in the industry iirc. Issue with these films is that they are so bad on first viewing they leave u no reason to want to go back and revisit them.

Edit: nm that was quantum of solace, couldn’t even tell you one scene from Spectre lol that’s rough. Which one was Dave Batista in? I think that might have been Spectre…

Yeh man I was thinking fuck I thought Spectre was in the snow lmao. And I had completely forgot Batista was in it as the villain lol. Christ like what even is the point, I feel like that entire film was action sequence fatigue on my part.

I know QoS well because Olga Kurylenko is absolutely one of the best girls of Hollywood. She was stunning in Timmy Olyphants Hitman- which was actually a better Bond film than most Bond films.

Didn’t like QoS though, feel like it’s literally where you can tell Casino Royale’s excellence begin to be dragged through the mud.

Perfect description of the way Bond films have evolved here. Casino Royal was a fun “what if” type Bond movie. And I think it caught a lot of ppls attention because it was a look into what Bond would be like as a normal well adjusted person. As opposed of course to the normal misogynistic sociopath who’s married to his work. Fair enough I liked it too cuz it was different, but…

Then they kept trying to go with that character which as I’ve said before, isn’t James Bond. It’s just a plain vanilla, as you’ve put it, action film.

Couldn’t agree more perfect summation.

It’s no fun when we agree on stuff

They need to not be afraid of changing the style. For some reason every single film has to go the Jason Bourne route.

It feels like they’re petrified to do anything different.

Get Tarantino in and turn everything on its head.

Taika Waititi would be a great shout too imo. The work he did on fixing the tone of the Thor Marvel films was exceptional.
