James Bond

I think that Daniel Craig has been a truly superb Bond… He’s tough, humorous, great with the ladies, and really looks the part, hard act to follow!

Ties in with the overall spectra storyline

Brilliant absolutely brilliant.

Daniel Craig is James Bond to me. Don’t think anyone will ever top him or that film.

Couldn’t have a gotten a better film to return to the cinema to either.

Meh, started off well. Finished off with a “wow” but I wouldn’t rate it that highly.

Sean Connery is the best Bond. Daniel Craig is a good shout for second. Really humanized the role.

So, who does anybody fancy as the NEXT James Bond…As I said, Daniel Craig will be a hard act to follow, but for me, there really are no outstanding candidates…
Anybody got any names they want to throw in the ring?

Has to be Henry Cavill imo

Time for Bond to go back to a suave Brosnan/Connery type and Cavill is literally perfect for it.

Martin Campbell actually had Cavill as his first choice for Bond in Casino Royale in 2005 but was persuaded to go in a different direction as Cavill was only 23 at the time.

I’d hate to be the guy that comes in next.

Will be like replacing SAF at United.

I see Tom Hardy is the favourite…God I hope he doesn’t get it…
That would be a bad move in my opinion.

Henry Cavill has the look, not sure he has the gravitas. Perhaps if he channels that Geralt vibe.

Imagine playing Superman and James Bond in your career though. Every little boy’s dream.

I wonder if they go in a different direction. I think Idris Elba has everything you want, but whether they make that “controversial” decision remains to be seen. A black Bond would have all the gammons revolting

From that list, I like Luke Evans, he could be very good…

Keep it as straight white males.

Anything else isn’t really what the character is.

He’s a chauvinist with privilege. Own that. Enough corporate liberal-washing

Idris Elba would be my shout

This will have probably saved the cinemas imo as the cineworld in Glasgow was very busy and probably got a lot of people like me to re-remember how good the cinema is after nearly two years away (for me) and how watching it on disney plus Amazon or Netflix in your house does not compete in the slightest.

Is he though? I’ve never read the books but in Casino Royale, Vesper guesses that he’s orphaned and never fits in or was accepted at Eton. He comes from privelege but I’m not sure that is what defines him. The chauvinism definitely though.

There’s enough good white male choices to not go down a different road. And he was a white bloke in the books so nobody should ever complain if the next Bond is a white bloke. But ofc there will be plenty of outrage on social media if they do.

Does anyone ever feel like the Bond films are made to to be a lot more than they actually are. Like they aren’t bad films and the novelty of the series is great and I understand the appeal but they are just ok in my book.

When a new Bond film comes out it’s treated as some kind of cinematic feat but they’re essentially just fun little action films that are pretty easy to watch and forget.

It’s such strange phenomenon to me, and it’s not like I’m someone who doesn’t appreciate cinema, quite the opposite really.

I mean that tells you enough.

It’s not a bad thing, but the characters just not believable as a woman or minority.

Fassbender is probably the best choice out of the options we have right now imo

Him or Madden.

Do yourself a favour and watch the absolutely incredible Man From UNCLE where he basically plays Bond in the 60s. He’s already played Bond perfectly, he just wasn’t called Bond.

@Castiel Bond was a product of its time because of the Cold War. It was very current and the first big blockbuster spy film while also having a fantastic a fantastically charismatic lead actor.

It’s now become the longest running film franchise in history and everything related to is big Hollywood news. Next Bond actor? Big news. Next Bond girl? Big news. Next Bond theme? Big news. It’s success over the years has made it so iconic which has led it to become such a phenomenon.

Very few other franchises has me excited about its news as the Bond franchise and a lot of that has to do with me having watched them since a kid. There’s just a very special “vibe” to the movies and the longevity has something to do with that.

Is Henry Cavill from the British Isles? They’ve only ever given the role to one actor outside these shores and that was George Lazenby. Never to an American.

@sol I’ve read four of them. Live and let die, you only live twice, the man with the golden gun and casino royale. Not literary classics by any stretch but much better than the films. The films are a bit of a farce.
