Wow, that was way too transparent.
Didnât know the former Liverpool director Christian Purslow was Villaâs CEO. Small world.
Villa have made out like bandits with this deal
City buying Grealish for ÂŁ100m is repugnant but I guess most fans will just be apathetic to it. The destruction of true competitive spirit through blatant financial corruption.
Football is not only dead, but its ravaged corpse has been pissed on, shagged every which way by a necrophiliac and subsequently set on fire (the fuel obviously being Arab petroleum).
City represent absolutely everything wrong with football. I hate everything about what they and Chelsea have done to the game.
Out of curiosity, how did people feel about things like Berlusconi in the 80s bankrolling Milan? I know itâs not totally comparable to the state funded bull shit and corruption
Wonder if you guys had any insight?
So we moved to the Emirates 15 years ago to win major trophies.
15 years ago I donât think Man City were even in the top flight.
15 years later we have a sole creative mid option being a 21 year old kid from
Our academy and they have KDB, Grealish and Foden .
Not true.
Real made up the record fee (at the time) for Ronaldo from Man U in jersey sales (to quote the Real Prez).
The players at the top are worth the fee to a club. What kills things is overpaying for average/below average players.
They came up in 01-02, your point still stands though. Overtaken.
Never forget:
Gazidis believes Arsenal will also be helped by the introduction of Uefaâs financial fair play regulations next season, which allow clubs to make only set losses initially before being required to break even.
He believes the rule could help the Gunners to start competing for some of the top players in European football. In the last few seasons, key players such as Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Adebayor, Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri, Robin van Persie and Alex Song have all left the club.
Arsenalâs last trophy was the 2005 FA Cup
âAs our financial capability develops, as economic rationality enters the world of football, our ability to compete at salary levels for the very best talent will be enhanced,â Gazidis said.
Clubs will be excluded from European competition if they fail to comply with FFP, and Gazidis has warned Uefa they must enforce this penalty.
âUefa are under tremendous scrutiny and pressure,â he said. "Every indication we have ever had from Uefa is that they are very serious about this.
â(Uefa president) Michel Platini has created this as his platform and if they donât enforce FFP well and strictly, their credibility will be shot and they are very well aware of that.â
Gazidis also believes a break-even rule is about to be introduced in the Premier League.
âThere is a growing consensus among owners across the Premier League that we need tighter fiscal regulation,â he said. âThat will be good for the Premier League, clubs, owners and fans.â
xD relying on FFP. What a football club.
Didnât they get relegated again at some stage after that ?
Hahaha Gazidis
Nah, they got pretty close a couple times though. But as a whole they were up to nothing.
Also while Iâm at it, Premier league binned the whole STCC thing in 2019. xD
No, youâre confusing it for 00/01. They were in the top flight for one season (the season Keane the scumbag made that shocking challenge on Haaland), got relegated, came straight back up with Kevin Keegan (playing some scintillating stuff in the process) and havenât looked back since 02/03.
Thanks for clearing that all up Dave and @RockyMaivia
Tbf, when they wake up and realize that theyâve improved the squad all around, theyâll realize this was the right play.
I think theyâll sign at least another one player, maybe 2.
Even as is their first team is really strong.

Their team is fairly young as well so theyâll keeo improving. I think theyâll eclipse Leicester, Everton and West Ham in the upcoming seasons.
Nah theyâll finish around 10th again, they ainât surpassing those two. West Ham is an anomaly.
Well, theyâve improved their team from last season, despite Jack imo. Theyâve also spread the load on many players rather than one player being their main creative output.
I think theyâll put a good fight for a EL place. Currently for me theyâre the 7th/8th best team in the league on squad quality alone.
Bah, been there done that. Canât lose your star players and expect to be better afterwards without some trials and tribulations. Leicester fell right down the table after their key players. All the new signings for Villa are untested at the level of consistency required to be 8th/7th. Theyâre trying though, but I donât feel the hype.
Agree to disagree.
Awaiting to see if they now go the extra mile for the remainder of the window.
Upgraded the team, yes; but they lost a game changer and a leader on the field.
