Howard Webb and his Cabal of Cunts

Just let the physio on. No need for a fucking pantomime.

Brentford - Liverpool game…criminals. They did everything in their power to give Liverpool a chance.

Bastards.

As usual, corrupted as fuck

To be fair, I think Liverpool were denied a penalty. Saw some slow mo clips so can’t be sure.

But that extended extra time in both halfs were weird

Nah 100% that was a dive

More like Brentford were denied a penalty when Van Dyke tried to take the Brentford striker’s head off in the box.

Ref didn’t even review it.

Tbf to the ref he can only review what VAR tells him to.

What a stupid fucking system.

The added time upon added time in both halves was quite astonishing. Commentators trying to justify it with the amount of time in the game spent preparing long throws. But that was already taken into account in the original amount of added time when they held the board up.

We had three players var checked. These two and Trossard :pires2:

Isn’t the rule saying only VAR to override or initiate the double checking but the ref cannot ask VAR to do so?

Yes, I believe so

It’s weird isn’t it? The logical procedure would be for referees to be able to ask for VAR to check something. We all get that feeling we’ve missed something from time-to-time. You can generally gauge genuine player reactions and sometimes when you arrive at the scene of a foul a player’s injuries can tell you that you missed some serious foul play. So why not get a second opinion?

But we’re talking protocols here that are being regularly abused and leaving fans frustrated. If they can’t even be consistent with a simple procedural rule where there are no grey areas, what chance have we got of these jokers applying the laws of the game consistently?

At this stage, I have no trust in refs to use VAR appropriately or consistently, so I’d move to a challenge system. Lets say each manager/captain/team has one challenge per half. If you challenge successfully, you keep your challenge and can use it again. If you challenge a call and are wrong, that’s you done for the half. If you either use your first half challenge successfully, or don’t use it at all by half time, you don’t get to carry it into the second half and have two challenges, you still only have a max of one stored up per half.

You could tinker with that and refine it to make it better, but broadly speaking, the above is an idea of how I’d like it to work.

Stupid bullshit like “clear and obvious errors” are so ill-defined and subjective that they’ll never work. Take the power out of the hands of officials and let each team control when VAR is consulted.

Didn’t know there was a Nwaneri check. I still don’t understand why they were checking Gabriel.
I’m surprised they didn’t send Trossard off.

Spurs v Chelsea game was also a weird one with VAR, two occasions where they ref should’ve been called to send someone off.
One for Bentancur and one for Enzo.

It’s honestly such a shitshow when they’re using the system so inconsistently.

But guys technology will make everything better!!

Absolute plebs using it, we need Elon’s robots to take over stockley.

We have challenges in the NRL and it works great tbh and this is a competition that has had a VAR system for over 20 years.

I would be happy for it to be used in football too.

I used to be pretty against a challenge system but i think it might actually be the only equitable way for the system to work under pgmol. It would have to involve the actual ref reviewing the decision though.

For a bit pf pageantry they could make a big red buzzer the manager has to push to invoke the review.

They could also burn down stockley park while they were at it.

I don’t like the idea of losing a challenge based on subjective interpretation of a ref. You will remain unsatisfied and can’t contest any further.
It will also give opposition to take more liberties once they know the opposition has no more challenges left.

In the NRL, the video ref still reviews things anyway and all scoring plays are still reviewed automatically but teams can challenge an on-field decision if they have a challenge remaining.

So currently the opposition have the same ability to take more liberties as they would with a challenge system.

But yes, there are often times when a review is completed and there is no satisfaction from it.
