Howard Webb and his Cabal of Cunts

But the stats don’t show what happened in the game, which is very much in line with my point.

Furthermore, a couple of questionable calls aren’t really evidence of us being “refereed differently”.

Again, comparing some numbers is no way to build a strong argument around official bias.

It’s the consistently questionable calls that are :facepunch:

Game after game.

I generally agree, the proliferation of stats with no context by dickheads trying to sound smart is annoying.

However we know the context here, this particular stat does support the point that we are reffed differently.

Go on any other fan forum and see what they think about how they are refereed. Surprisingly, every team’s fans feel the same.

You can point to some instances where there are poor decisions but it’s a significant step to say it’s actually a systematic approach that specifically concerns us.

I don’t care for that, I go by my experience of what I see and have seen over the years, stretching back to the early 90’s, watching majority of our games and many others involving the rest of the league.

The majority of the ref organisation is made up of northerners. We were/are hated in those parts going back years. There’s built in unconscious bias (or whatever the term is) in these people.

I dunno if you were about during the title rivalry years with United but fuck me they had some shady shit go for them at times.

This is from a few years back

Do you not see a problem?

So, your anecdotal evidence is valid but that of other fans is not?

I’ve always felt like a lot of the referees have the same personality as many police officers.

Insecure and weak men who assume a position of authority and don’t like to be challenged. A lot of corruption stems from their ego and the fact they don’t like to be challenged or undermined.

There’s so many obvious mistakes they make that no top flight referee should be making and you just know it’s because they don’t like what someone has said to them and they’re punishing said team / player.

Every club in England rightly complains about refereeing standard.

I thought it was embarrassing how Man Utd successfully appealed Bruno’s red card that VAR didn’t overturn but this takes the cake.
VAR literally intervened to send Norgaard off and now it’s chalked off after the fact.

These guys haven’t got a scooby and are making it up as they go.

That red is ridiculous and has rightly been reversed. That’s a good thing.

Its not pgmol who dish out the bans or hear the appeals and rightly so.

Once again the problem is how the system is set up. The VAR has intervened and shown the ref something he probably didn’t see properly and because of the drama he feels a need to act.

Exactly. There’s no issue asking red to have another view of the situation. It’s onto the ref to not be swayed by being asked to review the footage.

Same way be ignored clear handballs in the penalty box in the EL final a year ago and Euro QF just the past summer, both of which were detrimental to final result.

Oh, and if I recall correctly, he’s the one that scrapped off our late winner against Liverpool because it took him 5 secs to decide if he should blow the whistle or not for a Kiwior foul…

The moment Taylor blew up on Havertz for pressing was just so fucking bizarre.

There was a tussle between Kiwior and Bowen right in front of the lino that Kiwior came out on top in and baldy decided to give west ham a free kick despite the lino not even flagging it.

Never seen that before. Taylor gave a foul because he thought Havertz going for his receipt.

He did give us two penalties, so not going to complain too much
