Betis is not the issue here.
Bellerin is trying to forego a sizeable chunk of his salary to join Betis.
He seems resigned to not getting paid equivalent to his current pay.
He was not good enough for us but he is pretty decent to continue earning the same package or better if he didn’t devalue himself so much.
I guess it’s due to him having an early start to his career, but still, having played so many seasons and 200 odd games for us along with a couple loans spells, you’d think he’s approaching retirement rather than actually being just 27 years old still.
The guy can play 3-4 years more atleast. 8m should be a minimum if Betis wanna take him permanently.

Was never the same after his ACL. His pace was his meal ticket. Once he lost that, his technical ability was exposed somewhat.
Got nothing against the guy, always saw him as one of us. His work with the enviroment etc was admirable as well. Hope he does well at Betis.

I think the game changed on him too. Bellerin developed and initially came through during a time when many managers seemed to want that quicksilver FB who could blow by people on the overlap and become a de facto traditional winger putting in crosses or pullbacks. But now you’ve got managers like Pep who want FBs who can tuck into midfield and ping the ball around with both feet or managers like Klopp with FBs who are wide playmakers, not just dribble-and-cross merchants.

And the fees discussed were pretty substantial too.
