Health and Fitness

I’ve been training for about 8 years and I’ve literally always just eaten variations of bread and milk lol can probably change the bread to potatoes. I honestly think for anyone with fast metabolism, most important thing is just getting the calories in. You always gain a but of fat when bulking up but if you’re like me you won’t even notice.

Have you passed 30 yet?

Yes, I’m 28.

Well, you’re in for a surprise

If you want to avoid junk food (which, if you’ve got a fast metabolism - you can probably get away with in moderation anyway) then just shoot for good carbs. I mix it up between rice, sweet potato and bread (I always have 3 slices of toast and oats for breakfast when I’m bulking).

High proteins and carbs and moderate fats - so long as you’re keeping a decent eye on how your body looks regularly just eat and lift heavy.

Failing that, jump on the dbol and deca and you’ll be swole in no time lol

And it’s that attitude that puts people off going to the gym. Most go for a good cardio workout, so they don’t die of a heart attack in their 40’s.

He so is. He will continue eating under the presumption he has high metabolism in his 30s and boom dad bod

I have subscribed to him but he has made so many videos, it’s hard to find a routine so I found a new alternative to him.

Occasionally find videos like these

Damn, Ramsey got swole.

If someone doesn’t want to go gym because I think Athlean X teaches people to be pussies in the gym then the gym probably isn’t for you.

You can do what you want in the gym but that doesn’t change the fact that the Athlean X guy is a fraud with click bait titles and lots of misinformation.

I don’t care about that guy. I don’t even know who he is.

I care about people being called pussies because their not aiming to be some bulky meathead. I want as many people going to the gym as possible, because it’s not only good for the body, it’s good for the mind.

We should be encouraging people to go. Not mocking them.

What the hell are you talking about. I’m talking directly about Athlean X because he teaches people a whole lot of bullshit and teaches them to avoid important muscle building exercises whilst trying to teach people how to build muscle. And he does it all for click bait and he spreads a tonne of misinformation.

He’s a pussy and he teaches people to be like him in the gym.

It’s got nothing to with calling other people pussies or telling them they need to look like some bulky meathead.

There’s nothing easy about dedicating yourself to training no matter how you want to look. Whether it’s losing weight, gaining muscle, improving your body composition or just improving your cardiovascular health. Guys like Athlean X try to teach people that it’s easy when it really isn’t.

The thing is Athlean X is not for seasoned gym goers. It’s aimed for beginners who don’t have much direction to work with.

For most parts to maintain good fitness, you can achieve it by doing easy exercises without building great gains, so that message is essential to be provided.
Athlean X on that note does quite well.

Mike Thurston is miles better than Athlean X. I’d watch his channel a thousand times before I ever paid any attention to that guy.

I googled Mike and he is the one whose video I posted above. Haha. I need to pay more attention to names.

What muscle building exercises does he advise against?

I think it’s a bit harsh to call him a fraud when he’s training the likes of Antonio Brown, Jinder Mahal, MLB players etc etc, he must be doing something right in that case.

I wouldn’t go to him for routines (I mean you can do that) but he’s good for making sure people that watch his videos are lifting safely.

And if there’s an issue that may be niggling people, there’s usually a video and some exercises that can be done to help rectify it.

Really wish gyms would start targeting kids.
Plenty have big empty rooms with a range of equipment that could encourage kids into exercise at an early age.

Don’t think weight training before you turn 22 is a good idea.

There’s more to a gym than weight training though. Getting kids in there, and promoting healthy diets and good cardio, can only be a good thing.

As @Jules said meant more cardio based really. Having fun with exercise. We miss a trick in this country with this.
