Granit Xhaka

Xhaka is a good player, but he won’t change us a bit this season even if he stayed.

He’s been a game changer for them

And there’s a decent chance he could win it undefeated too along with the cup and also EL

He chose very well, congrats Granit

Fair play to him.

I don’t think he’d have changed our fortunes this season but he’s elevated that team and proven his worth.

Made the right decision to join Leverkusen.
Shame we bottled the league last season else it would have been a great story of winning back to back leagues against respective league monsters.

He was very much a part of the bottling.

Good player who can be a good fit for a certain type of football, but wasn’t a good fit for the way Arteta wants us to play. Him going to Leverkusen and us looking to replace him is better for all parties involved.

This isn’t the Rob Holding thread, put that post where it belongs.

Remind you that, Xhaka only has one goal this season.

ONE.

Don’t let that get in the way of a good story.

We were better with ‘I took 6 seasons to give one good season’ Xhaka bla bla bla.

I’m quite sure he has two.

Yeah, just checked. He has two goals.

Btw, he plays an absolutely different role now at Leverkusen to what he was playing under Arteta in his last season.

He’s a normal CM now, how he mostly played for most of his career. Nothing close to that Arteta’s box to box role where he was ending up in the penalty area all the time.

Btw, both goals came from outside of the box. He doesn’t get a sniff of true goalscoring chances in his role there now. Still performs at high level though, and as far as I know most fans are very happy with his performances.

Hate how prescriptive we have to be with things. He was great for us last season for the most part, played some of his best years (in terms of age) at a time when we were largely dysfunctional or evolving from that. He was part of a team that played amazingly for a large part of last season and also there when it crumbled.

I have no desire to hate on him or to see his move to Lerverkusen as some middle finger to doubters or Arsenal in general. Happy for him and I’m happy for him to do well at Leverkusen.

And these are the Stone cold facts of it all. Appreciate it.

I simply see double standard here.

Not talking about you but in general.

What’s the double standard ?

He only scored two goals this season (no assist??).
People accepting his “role” on the team, no need score, no need to assist, just to make progressive passing.
If that is okay as an CM, which I am good because I am the one that believe everyone has a different role on the team; but don’t get it Kai has his “role” on the team, while a lot complaining he did not progress the ball enough, he could not make killer pass, he doesn’t score/assist/dribble much.

Man, he has his role, just like Xhaka.

Oh ok, do we really need to bring up Havertz in this thread that is mainly just feel good vibes about a former player excelling elsewhere?
