Xhaka being dumb and other players being at fault for the goal aren’t mutually exclusive. Both deserve criticism.
“It’s Trent that sparks it” well then even less reason to do something isn’t it.
Arteta had a similar incident last year so I disagree.
I know exactly what you mean, but I want us to be so strong mentally and so good technically for that to not matter. The truly great teams would kick it up a gear and find ways to silence the crowd again. We’re not their yet but we have shown glimpses of it in certain games where we’ve scored immediately after conceding.
Anyway, I don’t think Xhaka’s action were why we dropped points. If all it takes to shake our confidence is for the opposition to get riled up and the crowd to find their voice, then I would worry for us.
People need to get off Xhaka’s back we know exactly what his capabilities are and are not - lets not change the narrative to suit our arguments. He is what he is, nothing more nothing less !! I personally love Xhaka - he is a trier no matter what !?
That incident did something to their players too gave them a spark, it wasn’t just a crowd thing.
Xhaka was a fool for what he did
I personally believe, Konate fucking fouling our players around, was the reason giving their fans a spark, not Xhaka’s retaliation.
He/they manned up, we did not, except Xhaka
Embarrassing that he took the captain’s armband when Odegaard went off
They scored a minute after that incident. If you ask me, that probably gave them the energy for the second half. If we reach half time at 0-0 we are all good.
Curtis Jones and Robertson had all the time and space in the world. That’s not due to the Anfield crowd.
Can’t it be just a coincidence?
IF half of the team gathered and pulled Xhaka away from the scene, this telling me that our players are “cool as fuck”, and they did not lose their head.
I don’t know why people are focusing on that incident with xhaka; the question that should be asked is where were white and Saka on the right side of the pitch when Jones received the ball….
He’s the vice captain so it’s what you’d expect really.
After his display of petulance its absolutely not what id expect at all
I think he’s probably worn the armband more than a dozen times since then
And ill never accept it
Terrible decision from the manager and club
That’s fine but you probably should expect it
The Xhaka incident had nothing to do with the result, it’s smoke and mirrors and Xhaka is an easy target. Xhaka did far more positive things in that game than Odegaard, who was largely invisible.
Xhaka taking the armband off Odegaard makes perfect sense, he is a captain behind the scenes irrespective of what fans think.
After being scapegoated season after season for managers playing him in a role that we have seen this season absolutely did not suit him, he cracked and was petulant and now is written off forever
Nope, that one act of stupidness from Xhaka is not the reason ill write him off, that reason came long long before last weekend.
Irrespective of what fans think? So we shouldnt have an opinion on what the club does or wishes to do? If we’re unhappy with something we should sit on our hands and accept it like good little theatre fans?
He is not our captain, he is not our vice captain. The sooner he leaves this club the better.
