He might be useful as a bench player but I doubt heā€™d go for that.
So maybe sell Xhaka and get a decent CM to partner Partey.
We could then keep Elneny whoā€™s reliable and seems happy in that role, with Lokonga as cover as well.

I was thinking the same but with the new contract and potentially us getting CL, heā€™ll probably want to see Artetaā€™s project out. Reckon heā€™ll be down to compete with whoever we sign.
If we somehow fail to make CL, I think heā€™s calling Jose up telling him heā€™s ready to go(again).

Oh come on. Who currently is better than him for our best XI? Like it or not, he makes a difference. He is important to the current team. People just refuse to see it

Whoever we sign in midfield will eventually take his place by Christmas. Xhakaā€™s durability gives him a good chance at getting plenty of game time though, mostly because of our glassy players.

But even then, he would play with them. That is my point. Weā€™d have to get a whole new midfield to replace Xhaka. People act like Xhaka is dreadful and he really isnā€™t.

Problem is he has hot-headed moments now and again, that when they happen they cost us points. Hasnā€™t happened for a while, but I doubt it is a negative thatā€™s going to go away. Some of his yellow cards also can be silly at times. Heā€™s also not playing his old role, now with Partey at the base. I think we can identify quite a few players on the transfer market to play that role better than Xhaka does.

I donā€™t think heā€™s going to play in the same midfield as both Partey and Neves so he would be surplus to requirements, unless heā€™s ok as cover.
For the wages heā€™s on and his age, we should try to get some money for him while heā€™s in a bit of form.

Also, referees hate him, a lot of his yellow cards, and at least 2 reds should not have been given. People get away with worse. So hating him for being screwed over is not the one for me.

When he doesnā€™t play we are worse.

Apart from Partey we have crud in CM. This isnā€™t a secret, or rocket science.

Say what you want about Xhaka, heā€™s been hated, told the fans to fuck off, carried on doing his shit, and is now in full redemption mode. Heā€™s stuck by his own beliefs whilst everyone wanted him dead. I admire that tbh lol
