If he let silva fall without laying a hand on him VAR would have waved it away
Thatās kind of where I am with it.
He should know better. I understand players grapple all the time and it doesnāt get called. He knows that too. He took a risk and it didnāt work out. Iām not sure he needed to grab him though.
Was the penalty given because it was him? Weāll never know. Maybe a little bit.
But thatās just who he is. Heās always going to cost us.
Mentally slow. No
Inconsistent. Again no. I think heās very consistent. The bad moments are as predictable as the good.
Lacks pace. Sure, but thatās not the be all or end all. In fact he makes up for that most of the time. The inability to move his feet versus tricky players is deffo a hinderance. Especially if he finds himself defending a 1v1 in the penalty area.
Stop saying reasonable things. Itās unsettling. I need you to go back to saying crazy nonsense.
Weā¦agree on something?
Thatās not a defence though. Penalties are given all the time, yet I donāt see footballers acting like children and scuffing the spot.
You seem to forget that this isnāt new for xhakaā¦
I havenāt forgotten anything. Thatās just completely irrelevant to my point.
Thatās point he does this shit that has a knock on affect; if itās not getting sent off itās brains dead moments leading to goals, or getting unnecessary yellows putting us on the back foot.
This guy has been with us for years and these things has not gotten any better.
I despise Xhaka but you canāt blame him for Gabriel making a decision to scuff the spot. That was really dumb.
6 penaltiesā¦thatās a lot of penalty concessions
Man City, Stoke, Tottenham, I know for sure. Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Brighton I think are the others.
Most were soft though. See them not given all the time. Maguire on Tomiyasu springs to mind immediately.
I wonāt be overly critical on him for this reason.
If Rodri makes that exact same play on Saka do you believe theyāre overturning the on field decision ? I sure as hell donāt.
I do yes
It was a penalty on Odegaard mate, they didnāt give that one.
Itās a clearer situation and easier to give. I agree Odegaard was a penalty though.
Xhaka shouldnāt get excused because of it.
You donāt need to convince me. I think a lot of us know Xhaka is harshly treated by the referee. I like Xhaka, but weāve got to adapt to this reality.
I just feel robbed, my take on the situation is you either let it flow and be lenient and neither are given.
Or you take a more harsh stance and both are given, depending how you referee the game.
To give 1 and not the other seems selective and fucking stiff.
The defence of āthe refs didnāt punish this other similar instanceā is a very poor defence to Xhakaās stupidity.
If he is stupid in an unfair world, he will still be stupid in an ideal world
Well actually the ref let both go. Itās VAR that called the main decision.
