Only because his name is Xhaka though. Referees have even admitted his name carries a reputation. A lot of his “fouls” and bookings wouldn’t be so if they weren’t committed by him.

It’s a crappy penalty decision BUT he stuck a leg out in the box and pulled at a players shirt just two ridiculous decisions to make in the box.
Not a penalty but pulling a players shirt when he’s beaten you? Sticking a leg out when the balls already gone?
It’s a pattern of stupidity from him can have a flawless 89 minutes and then he’ll always have that bit of stupidity in his game.
I thought he recovered very well from the penalty and was good.
Players literally have a hold of each other all the time all over the pitch. Saka won a foul on Ake whilst having his hand wrapped so far around him he was actually grabbing Ake’s ass.
It’s not as though it was a Xhaka-specific thing that warrants the “hurr durr Xhaka did it again” crap. Yeah players take the risk with any shirt touching, but it was also a shit call and Bernardo was going down well before.
Half the reason Xhaka was even in that position is because City had already opened us up down that side. He covered these sorts of positions and situations quite well during the game overall.

Xhaka shouldn’t even have been in a spot where he is one on one against Bernardo in the box.
My commentator had a point about the shirt pull, very likely that was the triggering point for the ref.
He was covering because City opened us up just before that down the right, hence why Bernardo was in that position. It was actually good defending up until the challenge that caused the penalty.
Bernardo goes down from the touch on his leg, not the shirt pull. The VAR gives a pen for the shirt pull. Bloody annoying.

Yeah it’s not a penalty at all. It’s why I’m not totally angry with Xhaka, I just think an experienced player shouldn’t be sticking his leg out and tugging at the shirt the way that he did. He gives the referee a decision to make when Silva is going nowhere.
