“he isn’t the reason we lost” is meaningless statement honestly… does my head in when people say that… he was poor, contributed to our bad play, and his limitations expose us EVERY game he plays… yes there were worse players on the pitch that day… so the fck what? Those players also got criticized and what is more, none of these useless fcks were the reason we WON, including Granit.
Reality is he is decent-is on his best days, but mostly is horribly deficient and on his worst days is calamitous… if we want to play the “well Partey was worse” game, we can, but Xhaka has been here for years and still is an important part of this club, despite so much damn evidence… our inability to get decent CM play is disastrous, and he is part of it.
We couldn’t move on as a club without getting past Ozil, great as he was in his prime, and the same goes for Xhaka, for different reasons. There is AFCON coming up which temporarily helps his case but he is becoming like Willian was during the first half of last season. Manager selections and apparent deference to him gets in the way, and development, of players with higher ceilings.
Personally don’t think he had that bad a game today, though I missed the first 10-15 mins. Still think he & Partey needs to be replaced next summer though.
Great we won huh? You know that means Arteta is feeling smug with his inclusion of Xhaka right back into the starting xi. Probably thinks he’s a genius because of it lmaooooo
