It all comes down to his stupid decision to get booked for a nothing moment, which stopped him from committing to a tackle during the counter for the winner.

Xhaka did well today tbh, just a shame he was already booked n couldn’t foul Gomes.
Hindsight he should have fouled him, not long left even with a 2nd yellow you probably come away with a point.
He’s not shit. He just has a reputation. Godfrey commits assault 3 times before getting a yellow. Xhaka makes one foul and the yellow card can’t come out quick enough.
Not saying he is perfect, but he was far from being the problem tonight. Though he did seem tired towards the end.
Personally I’d have taken him off after an hour, just came back from a serious injury a month ahead of schedule and is straight in to playing 90 minutes?!
We tried nobody wanted him, only Roma who basically wanted him for free (I woulda taken anything to get rid but thats just me). He’s not fooling anyone anymore unfortunately

Back in the side tonight and surprise surprise we give one of our most pedestrian performances of the season.
Him and Partey treading treacle all night and the ball never moving with any momentum.

He was sloppy in the first half. He didn’t look sharp enough to start. He grew into the game but it took him 30-40 minutes to start hitting the ball properly.
Think Mikel made the wrong call here.
Maybe, but he wasn’t the worst player on the pitch. He isn’t the reason we lost.

If Elneny played liked Partey there is absolutely no way he would be continuously in the starting XI.
Xhaka and Partey did play well together at one point. Maybe it’ll take a while to get them both back up to scratch.
What a huge surprise, he’s straight back into the team and we lose against one of the worst teams in the whole league.

I think Partey was more of a disappointment for me because I think he’s a much better player than Xhaka.

We created absolutely zero with them running the midfield today.
I’d say we should try Sambi with AMN against Southampton but Arteta’s emo wiener soccer will make all our midfield options look bad.
