Granit Xhaka

More like shit stains. Am I right? Tip your server and drive safe folks.

@shamrockgooner Never you. Toasting is probably the only acceptable way to eat a plain bagel. You like lox? I assume you can get pretty fresh Atlantic Salmon in your neck of the woods.

Love a good egg and cheese on a plain bagel.

That’s totally different. Fried egg, cheese, sriracha sauce, some hashbrowns on the side…or on the sandwich if you’re a complete wildman.

I don’t get the need for us to extend his contract beyond 2023 and an increase on already good wages ? what’s that all about.

Reading this Xhaka extension news…

If his contract runs out in June 2023 wouldn’t that put him in the dangerzone of just sitting and leaving on a free?

Maybe the club throws him an extra year (or a one plus club option) which means next June he’d actually be contracted until 2024 or even 2025. If the economy bounces back maybe they think more clubs will be willing to pay for Xhaka.

Yeah I suppose, but on the flip side it also means he’d be contracted well into his 30s in high wages which is also a problem.

No doubt but if the only offer rn is Roma at €15m, you could probably get that in a normal market with a Xhaka that’s a year or 18 months older anyway.

The club may think, “well, we extend him, his salary is already good, maybe add in some bonus bullshit and we can sell him next summer for 15-20m or maybe generate actual interest from a league that isn’t broke.”

Take that and run. Will be a new low in asset management for this club to extend this clown.

We should be signing a better more dynamic CM regardless of Xhaka staying or going. Why aren’t we doing this? Lokonga doesn’t count. If we’re relying on the 15-20m from Xhaka’s sale that’s a bit pathetic. It shouldn’t be the difference to investing in a key area. Too much emphasis on selling Xhaka while the club seem to have no replacement in the works. Get spending you fucks!

One of the benefits of keeping Xhaka for me is that this solves the issue of the next CM that comes in needing to be ready-made.

I had my doubts about someone like Bruno Guimaraes as I simply don’t think he is ready to take over Xhaka’s spot when he hasn’t even established himself at Lyon.
The club has an opportunity now to strengthen the team with another young midfielder developing under Partey And Xhaka, alongside Lokonga.
Camavinga or Caqueret are my picks. Pick one while you can, please.

It’s gonna be interesting because Ceballos was our best midfielder and we lost him, no replacement yet. Dani was basically the statistical leader in all of the midfield categories as far as linking the midfield and creating chances xGC ect. Gonna be a massive drop off if we don’t buy an 8.

Oh and he was actually one of our best midfielders defensively too lol. Too bad we had a bunch of shitters and Mikel holding him back, this club is an anchor around good players necks.

Who are the 4 dicks???

If they are offering him a new contract, they obviously have to pay him more, if nothing else, just to match the inflation rate. So that could not have been helped. I still think he will not play for us next season. I know Arteta might still genuinely rate Xhaka but I think given that he himself wants out, the chances of him leaving are still good.

I’m just laughing quietly from the sidelines at the reaction :smiling_imp:

From what I can gather from here, it appears that it doesn’t matter which players we sign now, our club is going nowhere if Xhaka remains part of the squad

Personally, I don’t see him staying as a bad thing. Would rather keep him than be bullied into selling him for pennies. Anyway, he was far from being our biggest problem this last season. We can deal with him next year and concentrate on bringing in an attacking midfielder this summer.

Stan, josh, mikel, edu.
