He wasn’t better than Torreira lol… Torreira was involved in more of the play, including some attacking play (which he was horrid in), but for about 25 minutes, Torreira was breaking up everything by them and also our best outlet from the back.
Neither was good after 45, but at least Torreira did some serious work that made a difference.
Yeah like his effort to get ahead of gosling to prevent the goal, neither Torreira or Xhaka are good enough for a top club, so I won’t bother wasting time arguing who’s less shit haha.
Gotta love how he overhits simple passes to Torreira but yet the latter manages to control them well. Fucking shite this guy ffs.
Why not? LOL… imho the worst offender on that play (at least the defending part), was Xhaka backing directly into his defense… he needs to stop the ball or hold it up, closing it down for crossing… he did the absolutely worst possible thing in that moment.

Much better second half. Some really nice balls but then had that one moment where he loses the ball and leaves us exposed again. It’s stuff like that which essentially means replacing him is essential.
For all the good he can do with the ball it’s his propensity to make mistakes in dangerous areas

He was decent, but still a liability and still either plays a safe sideways/backward pass to Luiz, or a crossfield ball.

Neither Torreira or Xhaka would be near any starting midfield at any top club in Europe, ultimately that is my opinion.

That is something the likes of Tom Huddlestone could do as well.
Are we going to praise Xhaka & develop hope each time Xhaka plays decent against a mediocre club.
Heck even in this match, I remember quite a few unforced errors. One in first 10 mins of the match.
Hopefully we bring in some quality, because if it’s just Xhaka departing it’ll do zero to change our fortunes, like when he was given that spell for his outburst and nothing improved.
