Was referring to his late career return. And no. Flamini was fucking shit (in his late career return). I agree he had his moments before the move to Milan but even then he was quite overrated. If you ask me who I’d rather watch current Granit Xhaka or 13-16 Flamini it’s not really a question. They’re both shit but Flamini is a different level. Xhaka can at least control and pass a football with reasonable efficacy.

I think its because Xhaka seems to rate himself and doesn’t take any criticism, even though he has lost us more points from individual errors than any other player.
He is without doubt the worst captain I’ve seen.
He lacks leadership, skill, bravery and responsibility.
I think 2013-14 Flamini had some really strong games for us and was, by and large, a handy addition to the squad.
The latter half of his return wasn’t great but at his best - he was a solid player for Arsenal.
Xhaka has never even been there - and he cost us £35m lol

No ramsey was never this bad, 11-12 was his only bad season and he was deployed in a mixture of shit roles.
Xhaka has been fucking terrible, I’ve never seen a player like him in my life honestly I’ve never hated a footballer more.
Last night he must’ve given the ball away like 8 times and that’s not even exaggerating, vs a poorly organised team who do not press the ball. We should’ve conceded far more than we did.
Flamini was a dm his job was to harass and pass the ball to someone better, he was never meant to play if I recall we had 2 or 3 long term injuries at that point. I’d take him over xhaka…anyone over xhaka.

12 13 was that when he was deployed next to arteta? If so no. And 15 16 was fine, he clearly struggled with fitness that season but he was fine not setting the world on fire…hardly Xhaka.
Oops yeah I got my years mixed up, yeah he was decent in the second half of that season (with Arteta in the pivot), in the first half shit. But still would be fair to call it a bad season.
15-16 he was most definitely shit. Most games it was hard to choose who was playing more shit, Ramsey or Flamini.
Xhaka is certainly in the convo for a player who is relied upon in that area being the worst… the most painful part is that he is so slow-thinking when we had supercomputers like Fabregas and Cazorla in there previously (recognizing not exactly same role).
And then there is the problem that even when he plays ok, he is subject to suicidal tendencies - you simply can’t have that. It is kind of like Mustafi - he is shit but every once in a while can play ok but kill the entire performance with one horrible moment.
i think i would literally rather have denilson in midfield than xhaka and i can remember when we had him how horrible i felt when i saw his name on the teamsheet i used to dread the game but Xhaka is on another level each time i see his name i dread the game because he always and i mean ALWAYS makes a serious mistake and they pretty much always end up in a goal.
It is so strange because when he came in i was kinda excited i thought he would do good he had a reasonably good rep in germany and people thought he was a talent i dunno what has happened to him.

He needs to dispense with the idea that he will somehow revitalize Xhaka and Ozil - they are the worst possible choices right now for us for many reasons, including that they are both like black holes of energy and urgency in our play, when we are calling for positivity.
At the time, if I recall, we had coq and santi as our 2 midfielders with ramsey as a right mid, when he was moved central it was because both coq and santi got injured and ramsey had to play paired to flamini, which is enough to make anyone look bad.

Not just solid. He was one of our most important players in 2007/08, our best season since the invincibles.
Yeah, he’s not a great talent but people often forget he played like a mad man that year and benched gilberto who still had some quality years in him even after that season.
This is actually a nightmare scenario for the keeper.
The shooter has too much time and space to shoot, and the defenders are all blocking keeper’s sight of the ball.

Yeah that video encapsulates him… some of those passes in ONE game exceed the number of similar shambolic passes by a player like Cesc in an entire season.

I am certain at this stage that Xhaka - all things considered - is the worst midfielder we have played in this century so far.
It’s so perplexing that a player this bad is a key player.
That’s what gets me. If players are bad, they’re usually benched or tried to be sold.
We handed this guy the house keys (
