Granit Xhaka

The “I’m sorry if you were offended” apology. If he can’t differentiate between trolls online saying horrible things and the fans at the ground jeering him for taking a slow walk when we were drawing a match he’s an idiot.

I was done with him before and I’m still done with him now. I suspect a lot of people feel the same.

If Emery uses this as a fig leaf to allow Xhaka to remain captain it will be a total farce.

Exactly, cunts got to go.

He is going to stay captain.

The squad have had another vote, and there is nothing being said.

He will likely be staying on as captain.

I’ve seen many Arsenal fans comment ruthless abuses on players’ accounts; hell you got sections of the crowd throwing abuses and having agendas; let’s not pretend “All” Arsenal fans are saints.

When it gradually builds up, no one looks at whether one is thick or smart because in the end anyone can lose their composure.

This isn’t even a footballing matter; this is something completely personal and sensitive which one personally experiencing will truly understand.

Reading this is honestly so funny, and sad, and kinda fucked up.

I don’t know why he and his wife even have social media accounts which allow comments or responses to them from the general public. Nothing good can ever come from it - there are too many vile people out there who use social media to abuse people and seem get a kick out of it.

As for booing and jeers in the ground - absolute fair game when he keeps on committing basic error after basic error and then refusing to own it. His public comments after the Spurs draw and his howler of a foul to give the pen were just farcical and insensitive to the fan base.

Ordinarily though I say really get behind the team (even Xhaka when he plays) and cheer them on as best and loudly as you can when you watch them live. I have sung what a load of rubbish in my life (going back to Terry Neill days when they got really bad) a few times but never done so in the last 30 years or so (partly because we have been pretty good most of that time and sometimes exceptional so harder to get really fed up) and actually haven’t booed one of my own players in that time even when fed up with some individuals. Usually there have been plenty of opposition teams and players for me to be rude to instead which I have routinely enjoyed.

Hopefully the team will be better organised and perform better soon as I am close to breaking my 30 year rule as things stand and if I had been there last Sunday it’s very possible I would have snapped and booed him. Unfortunately we are now as bad as we have seen for a very, very, very long time so I can see more of this kind of thing happening especially given it is so hard to see light at the end of the tunnel anytime soon.

[Chris Hu]I respek dat[/Chris Hu]

At least he has broken the silence. I still think Emery is offered up a mighty big decision to play him on Saturday. That shrivelled pickled gerkin of his better have ballooned into full on pickled wally if he wants to be seen as a respectful figure at this club.

This reaction is the tipping point for him I think either way. Either he seeks out a move now or the club have the foresight to start looking for another (two really) CM in the summer.

Thank you, clearly that was his excuse to act like a petulant child. If its not an excuse hes a giant fucking moron, which is also a possibility if his actions on the pitch are anything to go by.

I reread his statement again and now I’m even more furious. He is claiming that random 13 year olds in Mumbai and Long Island posting awful things gives him license to act like a baby when fans in the stadium are booing? He must be either deliberately obtuse or one of the dumbest people alive.

You know what? If he plays like shit again, I hope he gets booed again.

The apology was late AF, anyway.

If you need time to think up an apology, in my experience, you don’t really mean it.

Even if you don’t mean it! Sometimes it’s best to say you’re sorry and move on.

Didn’t feel like a apology for me. Feels like he’s still got a chip on his shoulder and wants to blame the fans. Sorry about his family being abused and it’s scummy, but still doesn’t excuse the unprofessional behavior and not every fan has given his family abuse, most are giving him criticism for his displays. So don’t paint every fan with the same brush.

For me, the captaincy should be stripped from him and he should be dropped for the foreseeable future. I’d personally sell him off, but I don’t see Emery doing it. i think it be wrong to play him for the next three games imo.

It’s a pretty diluted, watery apology. He does recognise he disrespected the fans etc. but it is very cleverly worded to avoid him looking like he is taking full responsibility.

Nevertheless, it is a fairly diplomatic attempt to try and end this debacle with some dignity. I can commend that at least.

Irrespective of that, no Arsenal player should behave how he did, let alone our captain. I know the continental Europeans on here don’t see the significance of the armband in the same way us Brits do, but it is a hugely symbolic position. His behaviour was not befitting that station, and his swearing / petulant response has made his position absolutely untenable.

He should step down with some dignity, say some bullshit about wanting to focus on playing to the best of his ability, invite another member of the squad to take up the mantle of captain, and finish off with a clichéd “we are all captains and leaders irrespective of who wears the armband”. Job done.

But no, the captain debate will continue to disrupt and produce negative media attention.

Don’t agree with the derogatory comments by some of the ‘fans’ but it doesn’t justify Xhaka’s antics. Aside from that from a footballing perspective he just isn’t good enough! We have let our standards slip to allow him to be a regular starter / captain!

No it’s late in the week and not even being expressed in front of our own cameras.
Needed proper handling with a member of the board in tow.
Insincerity or not it’s the image of the club looking in control that’s the missing element.

Sounded good to me. Bit late, but I accept his apology nonetheless.

I hate that this whole thing happened it takes the focus away from the fact he is shit on the pitch.
Best case scenario: we sell him in january and he plays well for his new team.
I feel sorry for him but i want Arsenal to be better.

He could just shut up and show up the fans by playing well.

That ain’t happening lol. He’s been here 4 years now, and tell me one great season he’s had here. There is a reason fans turned on him it’s cause he’s not that good of a player, i’m sure a few would disagree and blame tactics.

Ain’t you being over sensitive about this issue?
Maybe he was dumb enough to read the hateful comments and perceive that general audience is starting to hate him.
Footballers can be human sometimes and they want to drink in their glory but lately it’s been all shite with Xhaka.
When confirmed by stadium, he got frustrated.
I don’t know if it’s true but it isn’t completely unfeasible.

Also all he did was cup his ears and àsked fans to fuck off. I really don’t know why is that such an offense? We are all behaving as if he did a Nazi Salute
