They work over their hours? Why would they do that

Ah ffs you’re not allowed use your phone at work…last time i try that one i guess.

Really fucking sorry to hear about your burn out.

I’m not going to make any crass suggestions about finding a new job because life isn’t that simple but please do what’s best for your long-term health. I appreciate you will always put patients first but you’re important too.

Imagine going to your local GP in destress and some stupid receptionist ignores what you said and says you need to phone for an appointment.

Blood on your hands. I couldn’t live with myself if I effectively caused her to die.

I’m having a heart attack I need a doctor now

“Computer says Nooooo”

Fml.

There was a case here a few years ago where a young girl with a peanut allergy ended up having an attack after eating in a Chinese restaurant. For whatever reason the epipen wasn’t with her or her parents but there was a Chemist 50m away so the dad rushed down. The chemist refused to give the pen without a prescription and of course that meant that the girl died.

They’ve since changed the law and chemists now have discretion in such cases. He was obviously thinking about regulations etc and maybe even being struck off. But ffs there is a girl dying on the side of the road and the rules should be thrown out and you just gotta hope the universe takes care of you for doing the right and fucking logical thing.

Are GPs qualified to handle heart attack cases?

I think the protocol is to sit the person down and call for an ambulance. There’s not much you can do other than get that person to a hospital as quickly as possible.

I am struggling to understand the story.

The grandmother calls the GP and the staff asked her to call the hospital where she would get the right treatment. They could at best call the hospital on her behalf.
The delay couldn’t have been avoided.

What am I missing?

She was actually in the GP surgery is my read of it.

No, she physically went to the GP but was told she has to call to make an appointment. Even though she is experiencing chest pains.

Ah shucks, that’s just inhumane, regardless of the protocol.

I guess if there is any culpability in her death by the actions of that receptionist, it’s going to depend entirely on how long it took the poor women to get to the hospital.

Was she there with her son, who immediately took her to hospital when he realised he was dealing with a retard behind the desk? Meaning they might have gotten her to hospital quicker than had they waited for the ambulance?

Or was the poor woman, in the middle of a heart attack, having to call her son to come and pick her up, to take her to the hospital, losing precious time which could have saved her life?

Unsure of the geography and location of where this happened but I can see that if the family loved in the sticks and had the option of traveling to their local GP or a bigger hospital miles and miles away, in the heat of the situation, you may go to what is closer.

Horrible situation regardless and a shocking display of policy over common sense.

Maybe it’s a trick of the light but I’d swear the con-artist formally known as Prince looks a bit sweaty in this photo.

The original where you’re in North Korea is better.
