Some cunts deserve to be dropped, but not allowed to say that out loud in big 2025.

21 years will do, think they’ve tried to make a point here.

Some cunts deserve to be dropped.

Did you read it out loud as you typed? :eyes:

I listened to the judge’s remarks. Apparently he already knew the restrictions were in place too as he’d made another journey into the city. If I understood it correctly he drove past a road closure to be where he was.

His own dash cam showed him driving recklessly on the way in, undertaking people all over the place too. Anyone who drives has seen dickheads like this who thinks they own the road and everyone else should fit around them and their priorities.

Jesus Christ what a fucking animal

Good on them. The social contract has been broken. You can’t rob and pillage and expect people to remain docile.

Unless it’s done by governments through taxation systems that give tax breaks and loopholes to the very richest. Like happens in pretty much every “Democracy” right now.

I don’t normally get into these sort of debates cause I can always see both sides of the argument and it’s generally never one side that is right or wrong. But this comment just doesn’t sit right with me, especially as you cited incidents in India.

Those incidents you refer to are just a few (yes, I said “few”) of many such dark moments in India’s modern history, and unfortunately, that will just keep happening in a country like India (I’ll get to why). But if you think those reflect the official Indian stand on Islam or the general view the Hindu majority of the country, then you cannot be further from the truth.

The population of Muslims in India was around 35 million in 1951 and has grown 200 million now. You think that happens if we were trying to ban Islam? We’ve had/have Muslims Presidents, Governors of states, captains of industries, prominent scientists, high ranking military officials, captains of our national cricket team etc. Bollywood is practically ruled by 3 Muslim actors, one of whom is among the richest actors in the world.

There are a lot of things wrong with India but religious intolerance isn’t one of them, at least not in the masses. That’s not to say that religion is not weaponized for political/personal gains. Radicals exist in every religion and when you have 1.5 billion people, many of who aren’t very educated, or come from poor economic backgrounds, you’ll always have enough support for whatever flavour of radicalisation you want to propagate.

I know you are originally Pakistani and there is this narrative in Pakistan about how India treats it’s Muslims, how they don’t have basic rights, how they can’t go to mosques to offer prayers, how they can’t celebrate their festivals etc.. Please don’t fall for all that propaganda.

Interesting. Learned a lot from that post. I knew that India was ruled by Muslim leaders before the British but had no idea that nearly 1/7 of the modern day population was Muslim.

Thank you for your viewpoint that is very interesting.

I hope you could tell I was being a little facetious in my post that you were replying to.

The reason is that Trion is from India and his attitude towards Islam is a worrying one I feel. One that leads to pogroms like the ones I mentioned.

Please check bolded.

I’d be happy to link anything to back up all that I’ve said if need be.

My point wasn’t to single India out for any reason other than that was relevant as to the posters comments.

It is certainly not the only anti - Muslim country.

I think your point is certainly true amongst the diaspora and the educated Subcontinentals. I have many friends and colleagues from India who are Hindus and we get on well.

We are all a bit saddened at the state of the nonsense our countries of origin get up to.

I think both Indonesia and Pakistan have more Muslim people than India.

This is all very interesting as I have very little knowledge of the socio-political dynamics of India which I assume are very complex given its size and history.

On the periphery I have noticed a strange presence of people of Indian descent involved in the white supremacy, fascist movement in the U.S.

People like Usha Vance, Kash Patel, Vivek Ramaswamy, Nikki Haley, Tulsi Gabbard, Dinesh Desuza, Bobby Jindal and others I might be forgetting. Of course you also have Zohran Mamdani and Ro Kanna.

I’ve heard the term “Hindutva” which I presume is some kind of Hindu nationalist movement but honestly I’d have to defer to an expert on the subject.

Modi was certainly to blame for the extent of the riots in Gujarat purely because he was the Chief Minister of the state. Beyond that, the Indian Supreme Court didn’t find any evidence of wrong doing by him in spite of various allegations. Make of that what you will.

And it’s true that BJP is mostly viewed as a Hindu party, promoting Hindutva (Hindu culture) and many smaller Hindu ultra groups are associated with them and get their support. The BJP and Modi definitely play the religion card to attract Hindu voters, and they will stoop to any level to do that. But that doesn’t mean that Muslims are being persecuted or denied their rights under this government. That just can’t happen in a country like India with a strong Judiciary and an independent press.

There are many Hindu communities that don’t like associating with Muslims and vice versa, especially in rural areas and small towns, and that won’t change. But it doesn’t mean they are at each others throats all the time. In major cities, things are very different. Interfaith marriages are rather common. My own cousin is married to a Muslim.

As for the Aamir Khan incident, you must know that immaterial of their status, educational and economic background, almost every Indian has a smartphone with a 4g/5g connection. So you can imagine the sheer number of idiots who have nothing better to do than to get outraged by the slightest thing. And that’s all that was. It blew over in a few weeks.

As for SRK’s son’s arrest. I don’t think that had anything to do with his religion. It had everything to do with an overzealous government employee wanting to make an example out of a rich man’s son.

And while lack of education is a reason for some of the issues, the recent Delhi bomb blast was planned and carried out by a group of doctors.

In the end, India isn’t perfect when it comes to being non-secular and will never be (just too many idiots who are too easily triggered) but for the most part, Hindus and Muslims get along quite well, and in the cases they don’t, they stay out of each others way.

Finally, we are certainly not an “anti-Muslim” country no matter what Al Jazeera and affiliates would want you to believe. If we were, the things I mentioned in my previous post just don’t happen.

Since we are on the topic of tolerance, sad to see what happened in India earlier today. I think it was just last week where a doctor in her burkah received her reward and the presenting person forcefully tried to take it off from her face. A lot of similar incidents are happening more than often.

I think India was a lot more relaxed, and tension was at ease prior to the arrival of Modi. You can just see in the celebs interviews how tensed they look when it comes to politics. Definitely a change in last 10 years.

Not a good look for New Zealand

This is the nonsense that I attribute to a bunch of politically motivated idiots. These incidents are usually caused by some small obscure groups trying to make a name for themselves, or a small time leader trying to make it big.

While this shit is deplorable, these are exceptions. I would say most (99%) of Christmas decorations, celebrations have gone on without incident and have done for years, which tells me majority of the country has no problem with this but you won’t see that on the news obviously.
