I’m just loving the fact MAGA Christian voters are calling him Marxist, Woke and Anti American. Have they ever heard of Jesus Christ?
American Jesus is a hedge fund bro that wears boat shoes and rails coke with his twelve friends on his dads yacht on the weekends.
Situation between India and Pakistan is escalating rapidly. Really is no telling how far this will escalate with pride and arrogance reigning supreme across both their leadership over sense. Off ramping and deescalation has to take place ASAP. Far too many lives at stake.
Pfft. it will blow over in couple of weeks. Relax.
You hope it will.
I was suppose to depart few days ago but flight got cancelled. Staying in Islamabad and last night missiles were thrown by India at Pak’s army bases - the whole house shook for a good 30 seconds; thought it was earthquake. Very intense situation, especially with Pakistan responding too.
On a plus side - visited North Pakistan. Very beautiful.
Would love to visit Pakistan, but the place scares me

Luckily my president has sorted it!
People’s President Donald J Trump bringing peace one Truth Social post at a time.
Pakistan are still attacking India according to reports in India.
The situation, unfortunately, looks far from over.
If a Labour government passed assisted dying in any way, I’d vote for any major party that stood for repealing it. The usual red lines about who I wouldn’t vote for would go out the window. Rather than my current ambivalence towards voting, I’d be first in line at the polling station.
It would become a single issue election for me.
As someone with an incurable condition that will make my life hell when I’m elderly, I’d ask someone to help get me there to the polling station so that I could chat at length with you about your belief in the hours before the doors open.
Perhaps you’d be so kind to massage any muscles of mine that cramp up in the early morning cold.
No, we’re a civilised society so you have to suffer in agony as your family watch.
It’s cruel isn’t it? My family are all West Ham fans and I’d be forced to spend time with them banging on about the 1980 FA cup final and how they won the world cup in 1966.
How can anyone can justify that sort of cruelty?
If we could safeguard from misuse and are able to provide proper consultation to the person, I see a lot of merit in assisted suicide.
However, these issues are so specific to individual & subjective, I can never be in a place where I can say a given system is a foolproof one. Quite a dilemma this!
Any assisted dying law will be open to abuse and would be abused by this NHS. And by this NHS I don’t just mean the badly managed institution, I also mean the individuals who work in it too.
My opposition to an assisted dying law is entirely centred around people with disabilities who can’t advocate for themselves like my daughter and their families being strong armed into euthanasia.
There are no safeguards that can be put in place against that, and the character of this country is such that it can’t be trusted with the power to determine when a life isn’t worth living.
You’re jumping to a lot of conclusions there. If a family were placed under pressure to take the euthanasia route that would be worthy of legal action.
I agree there needs to be safeguards but I’ve seen nothing from the NHS staff I’ve been treated by over the last 10 years to suggest they would act improperly in a way that would needlessly end my life.
I’ve been begging for stronger pain medication for much of that time and it is repeatedly refused out of an abundance of caution over a downward spiral into opioids that would certainly end my life sooner.
I think the “badly managed” NHS is the bigger problem for society in the UK and we should be voting for a political party we feel can improve the health service. So not Reform, Tories and Labour.
I’m not jumping to any conclusions. Just as your experience over 10 years informs your position, so too does mine over the last 15 years of being a parent of a seriously disabled child.
You have seen nothing to suggest NHS staff would behave improperly. Almost everything I’ve seen suggests that they would.
The NHS disabled my daughter for life, and at every turn has tried to fight to not expend resources to help her. If it as an institution and doctors as individuals had had the power to decide her life wasn’t worth living, I have no doubt they would have.
The badly managed issue is real, but it is also a useful screen for NHS professionals to hide behind.
The one concession I would be prepared to make on this issue is decriminalising travel abroad, because then we as a family remain protected by the NHS not having the ability to decide that my daughter’s life isn’t worth living which is the only protection worth having.
Well, I completely understand where you’re coming from and you’ve clearly had experiences in the NHS that means you’ve totally lost faith in the organisation and those who work in it.
The NHS killed my mum a few years ago when one hospital failed to check x-rays they took which would clearly showed several tumours around her vital organs and, based on there not being any cancer present went ahead with an operation that she was too weak to undergo. One Doctor fucked-up. It’s only our desire to move on that stopped us taking legal action.
There are bad eggs at every level in the NHS, there’s no doubt about that. Leaving the EU means we can no longer compete for the best staff across the Union and thanks to Doctors being replaced by unqualified “consultants” because of a shortage of suitable recruits in the UK, things will get worse. Plus, we no longer qualify for a choice of free healthcare across Europe. Something that was lied about back in 2016-2020 until reality hit.
What I would never do is blame the nurses and other badly paid staff in hospitals and surgeries. Most are carers first and foremost and can’t be blamed for being overworked, underpaid and under appreciated. But maybe my experience was better due to the postcode lottery with health.
I appreciate most are slime-balls with no interest in us plebs, but have you tried lobbying your MP? Being a nuisance got me a diagnosis earlier.
Another thing I should say is that having had the benefit and privilege of using private health care, it’s no better, you just don’t have the long wait. I was misdiagnosed for 6 years by a private hospital. Perhaps the issues you’re experiencing are wider than just the NHS.
Quite possibly, the NHS just happens to be the body that we are up against. Certainly I think the culture of throwing those who can’t advocate themselves to the wolves runs far deeper in British society than just the NHS.
I would absolutely blame nurses and badly paid staff as well as doctors for what we’ve experienced. The callousness has been wide ranging, and delivered at multiple levels.
Yes I have addressed concerns to my MP. Unfortunately, for a number of years my MP was Rosie Duffield, who had no interest in doing (it seems) any part of her job.
I refuse to be put what we’ve experienced down to “bad eggs” or Brexit. My daughter was born under the care of an NHS trust that was investigated at great lengths for its unacceptably high infant mortality rate at the time and continues to obfuscate and obstruct and attempt to ask questions about it’s care. She has been treated here and elsewhere. I haven’t seen her be treated anywhere to an acceptable standard. Even after major spinal surgery, a children’s hospital in London made moves to try and discharge her while she was still in too much pain to walk or even sit up.
No. I’m absolutely not have any defence of the NHS, it’s doctors, nurses or support staff. Where we have encountered good professionals they have been glaring exceptions and their decision to work within this system throws even their integrity into question. I would never, ever trust any of them to have an input into whether a human life was worth continuing.
