General News

According to this Russian article, so far 11 have been arrested of which 4 were amongst the attackers last night. No mention yet of any ethnicity or motivation.

Ok, we will have to disagree.

I think it’s very sloppy journalism to parrot some ISIS account without further investigation. ISIS can claim anything they want lol.

Just mentioning “no evidence to support the claim” is a lazy cop out to conduct proper journalism.

Some Dutch news websites don’t even include that note by the way.

ISIS terrorists that didn’t martyr themselves? That alone makes these claims suspect.

Certainly doesn’t seem like their M.O.

Don’t know if they always martyr themselves, but they tried to get out alive so they’re either not ISIS or weren’t rushing to get their 72 virgins.

ISIS? Maybe.
Cunts? Definitely.

ISIS towards the end of their relevancy would take credit for attacks they had no capability or resources to carry out, where there was no or very poor evidence that they did them.

They did this to inflate their image and notoriety.

I wonder if this is the same or not.

ISIS “published” first person video of the attack on their website.

Putin looking stupid now so he’ll have to pivot to “Ukraine are harbouring ISIS terrorists” next to deflect from the failings of his own intelligence and security services.

Have to admit, I’ve never really understood the whole Isis phenomenon and no one has been able to explain it to me. They/it kind of came out of nowhere and disappeared as fast it appeared. In contrast, organizations like Alqaida and the Taliban have a history that can be traced.

I wonder what we’ll learn in 20 years about what exactly they were.

I see so probably more credible than before

Very basically, there was a local Al Qaeda group in Iraq. That group was decimated but not destroyed during the second Gulf War. The hardliners that survived went on to create ISIL or Daesh, whose sole purpose was to create an Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant. You can also look to the power vacuum left by the deposing of the Hussein family as another contributing factor.

It wasn’t until the group moved into Syria that they rebranded themselves ISIS (Islamic State for Iraq and Syria).

So the best way to think about it is that AQ and ISIS have a shared history.

Yes, I’d say “more credible” is spot on. Always maintain a healthy skepticism though.

It all doesn’t mean much to be honest.

ISIS is such an easy cop out. Nobody even was aware these guys still exist.

Now 4 Tajiks from Central Asia committed a terror attack in the name of ISIS?

Tajiks?

For 500.000 rubbles, equivalent to 5.000 dollars?

I didn’t know ISIS fighters committed these massacres for money, let alone measly sums. I thought it was all done in the name of god?

Nothing really makes sense about ISIS doing this out of the blue, in snowy Moscow :joy:

Also sucks we call Daesh ISIS, because Isis is one of my favourite Egyptian mythology goddesses.

More likely to be Chechnya related.

It’s been reported 4 Tajiks have been arrested. Nothing mentioned of Chechens.

Still doesn’t make sense to connect these Tajiks to ISIS. Only Western media do it at the moment, Russia just speaks of 4 Tajiks amongst 11 individuals arrested so far.

From US Department of State’s Country Reports on Terrorism 2022: Tajikistan

Tajikistan’s primary concerns are with ISIS-K and Jamaat Ansarullah, which operates from Afghanistan and seeks to overthrow the Tajik government to establish an Islamic emirate.

Here is some interesting reading;

https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/why-did-isis-k-attack-moscow-theater-2024-03-23/

“ISIS-K has been fixated on Russia for the past two years, frequently criticizing Putin in its propaganda,” ISIS-K “sees Russia as being complicit in activities that regularly oppress Muslims.”

The leaders of Britain from both parties have failed in their duty so much that it is treasonous.

But please keep harping on about a blue flag when all you population are ancient dribbling messes

Do you think population collapse is a real concern, or it’s not the problem that I’m starting to think it is?

Worldwide population shrinkage would do wonders for global and local issues. No good if they’re all old and wrinkly though.

It’s gonna be pain full when 90% of the country is pension age.

This isn’t shrinkage, it is collapse
