It’s more the decision by the armed robbers that did the damage.
They put him in a situation I’m sure he didn’t want to be in and it’s understandable that he wasn’t thinking rationally, after something as horrific as that happened.

But my point was more how harsh the sentence was considering, by no fault of their own, how much it has already affected him and his family.

I said that his decision compounded the damage done by the robbers, so we don’t strictly disagree here. I’m saying he made everything worse for him and his family by murdering the robbers. Had he not done that, his wife and daughter would still have their husband/father in their life.

I think the moment you commit armed robbery, all the arguments as to what is appropriate force become highly subjective.

The jeweler could very well feel threatened they might come back and kill him. So he decided to eliminate the threat.

I think 17 years in this case is disproportional.

People get less for killing innocent people who didn’t do anything to deserve to be killed.

That would still be a crime

@Bavin a lawyer like you can’t surely claim that this is not always true and demand forever to share what is he basing this on?

I don’t say it’s not

I just think 17 years is excessive punishment

On sentences given to murderers in The Netherlands

You get 21 years for murder in Italy. This guy killed two people.

He got 8.5 years for each murder, when it’s usually 21. How is that excessive?

Do you think it’s appropriate to use deadly force to protect your property and possessions?

Just generally speaking

I thought that was a spoof. :grinning:
It’s no wonder the BBC viewing figures are going down, they’re becoming a bit of a joke.

Nobody comes out of that “story” looking good.

To me the only ones not looking good is that guy pretending to be a lesbian and the bbc sharing it.

He probably does have gender dysphoria, which is something we can at least have some empathy.

I’m just not sure why we’re leaning into these delusions now.

I can’t believe people just watched?! What the fuckkk

Based on the law as it stands as I understand it, this really is the crux of the issue and agree with your interpretation.

Given there have been some high profile cases, I’ve always wondered if the Government would seek to change the law. This case seems more straightforward but recall there have been some which are much more finely balanced.

I hope this fucking cunt serves every minute of that nine years - is that the maximum? With any luck maybe he’ll get his own arse fucked by some of his new acquaintences.
