It’d be silly to make a broad point based solely on this one example, but we aren’t really doing that, because the broad point is one that is informed by UK train fares in general, not just this solitary example. It’s a position I’ve held far longer than I have been aware of the tweet that referenced London to Blackburn fares, can almost guarantee the same goes for Cristo.
But isn’t the point of the comparisons with other European nations to make the point that if we ran our rail services differently, like they do, we could get some lower prices?
We could start by not letting nationalised companies from other European nations from running our services and fucking the British users while offering much more reasonably priced services in their own countries.
There’s little value in comparing the UK to other European nations, you should really examine the UK in isolation because our rail network is so distinct and the centralisation to London as a transport hub is massive, there’s really nowhere else in Europe like it besides maybe Paris
The point is really to what extent should the UK government subsidise the cost of operation and train tickets. Privatised or nationalised that’s the core debate really, the profit element in your average train ticket probably accounts for less than 2% of the total price, if that. If you’re ideologically opposed to private entities profiting from UK rail operation that’s fine but it’s never been the primary driver of fare increases
Yeah customers do that all the time it’s nothing new.
Clearly you’ve never experienced the world to think shit like that never happens, idiots like like you just do outrage you should try to get out more it might make you smarter, and less of a dick
There’s literally nothing you wouldn’t stoop to saying to maintain your “offend everybody” world narrative. How much shit are you gonna make up to justify all manner of nonsense. The guy fucked up
