Would be perfect if he pledges to ā€œdonateā€ the money to ACLU

Another day another shooting. Madness it still doesn’t look like owning guns will be banned anytime soon

If we just ensured that all the doctors, nurses, porters, admin staff, janitors and patients in hospitals were also carrying guns maybe things like this could be avoided.

Maybe they will cancel surgeries if the staff don’t pass the shooting exam? But on the other hand it’s hardly a requirement to buy a gun.

These incidents cannot be avoided, just like those killed by drunken drivers. America is a very large country though, to put into perspective, can fit Britain easily into just California, and while I’m sure these kinds of things happen regularly at local level I can’t remember a similar incident for a hospital reported at national (and international) level for quite some time. I know libs don’t like it, but as I was reminded by someone last weekend, more people were killed in Chicago again that in any mass shooting, and that all gets ignored, for political reasons.

You forgot to tell us how you were done contributing to the thread this time.

Well, as I was the only one who added anything of meaningful constructive value, with the prediction of red flag laws being looked at, but ok, go back to the peanut gallery stuff and America bashing, that’s fine, I’ll stick to politics outside this place, which I am involved in deeply, not afraid to share that, but obviously has no place in this ā€œsafe placeā€ of ….:laughing:

(also all the more reason for me to get into the gym now rather than loitering in my car in the car park, delaying my late night work out because I’m not quite in the mood)

Make sure to bring your gun. Just in case.

Still in my car fumbling around with emails or whatever excuse. lol. Believe it or not I feel far safer in regular life where I am than in Britain, where I still have a home. The country is big, and even Britain is diverse geographically in all truth.

Did you move from England originally to the US? How did you find the transition?

You really are astonishingly conceited :joy:

Classic Whataboutism.
We can fix or be bewildered by two things at the same time.

People die for a variety of reasons. We can’t keep pointing at other instances to justify the death of innocent people due to mass shootings.

What sort of political reasons would OA have to focus on these shootings, apart from the urge to point out the sheer stupidity of maintaining the unregulated gun culture.

America is huge geographically but population-wise, it is not dense enough to state ā€œThese incidents cannot be avoidedā€

They can be reduced

However unlike death due to drunk driving, gun deaths are increasing.

Just your way of avoiding anything that is inconvenient for you to talk about. Boring, won’t go on with the rest, if you don’t want to directly tackle what I bring up why should I bother with your tedious essays and cut and paste?

Anyway, before someone says something, just off the elliptical and resting a bit in ā€œthe caveā€ before sets and weighs. Problem is few days off slacking around Memorial Day has resulted in getting back to usual proving more difficult than I thought. I loiter in the car park also because I forget to take my supplements before, 15-30mins to kick in. Anyway, more interesting for me to talk about, if not for anyone else, apologies.

If OA was a school, you would definitely buy some guns

In the stream room. The funny thing is no one in here actually knows my own attitude to guns, or if I own any. I only talk about this all within the Overton Window of what, if anything can be done. If something cannot be done I just cast it aside as clutter. This is where Shamrock comes in with incrementalism, which is fair enough, except I have a different line of attack, on the shooters and mental illness in particular, not going after ā€œNRA gun nutā€ guns, because all that happens when you do that is end up with nothing happening.

By the way, does anyone know this school apparently had 30-40 lockdowns prior to this incident, due to border patrol chasing drug cartel people dodging them by running into the school in a border town? That probably had a contributory impact on the law enforcement bungle for the shooter/shooting, but again, many don’t want to talk about border controls and drug cartels.

Anyway, can barely type because of the steam and sweat on the phone and fingers. Past 1am here, so probably last one tonight. Night (/ g’day).
