I do think they may have not researched the Modi case enough. The Hindu gentleman is mad Modi is being criticised and they aren’t criticising Saudis/Pakistanis in the same way.
It’s not something they have enough insight into and his counter points are actually reasonable. But he even admits what happened with Ghugarat riots were wrong. He doesn’t dispute that Modi stoked those riots, which is kind of the point of the report. The Kasmir issue is complicated.

Feel like I need to contribute after posting this but I really admire AOC I think she does the world of american politics good. Americans call her too socialist but most her policies are central to centre left in most governments.

Yes I revisited his video and it’s reasonable and detailed but I’d argue biased from a nationalist perspective. Modi and the police force were accused of hyping up the masses and giving out lists of Muslim houses who in turn would be massaacred. He kind of glosses over that saying ‘yes that’s wrong but hey look at the context and Modi got off in court so obviously innnocent etc’. So he’s being a bit hypocritical when he complains ‘they’re justifying the train massacre’ when he kind of justifies the riot and massacre himself, to ‘give context’. It all resonates back to the relgious tribalism that has blighted India.
I think they’ve tried to cover a cause they’ve got off secondhand sources. It’s not like they’re a big organisation with overseas reporters and contacts in both Indian political parties that they can interview. And it’s not their specialism. So you could argue they shouldn’t report it but then there’s an journalistic argument against that too because then less people would hear about issues around the world.
The A370 Kashmir issue is controversial and complicated. What are your views on it? I appreciate there’s issues on both sides with the pakistani nationalism and terrorism. But shouldn’t they have some autonomy rather than be ruled by Delhi?

The unrest in Kashmir will never go away because Kashmir is strategically important for India, Pakistan & China. Each side will do what is best for them, be it ethical or unethical.
No other state in India has autonomy and we are well governed, so I don’t see the fuss about being managed by the Indian government. If Kashmir was treated like a normal state, they would have had their own representative in the Parliament. Given time, this is what will be achieved. It’s Democracy.
Kashmiris are Indians. They can move to other states, get a job and live a peaceful life. This isn’t like Israel-Palestine where there are pockets of isolation.

@arsenescoatmaker and @JakeyBoyas well as others have a huge bias on certain topics or ideology, so right or wrong they would defend his position and anything that’s in opposition to those beliefs systems, it’s automatically attacked.
It’s nothing new on here OA has got contingency that leans left on everything, thus any little mistakes would be derided and you get ridiculed for it; personally I couldn’t give a shit I still get my point across.

The last part I generally agree with. While there are human rights abuses by security forces and by Islamic militants it’s a nightmare to police the area. It’s certainly more of a Northern Ireland situation than a Palestine situation
Maybe modernisation and investment into the era may qwel tensions in time.
