does this manager not understand if the attackers dont get the ball near the goal there wont be any goals. All of these passing stat pages look the same sideways passing never getting to the players that are meant to be scoring…utter stupidity.
He’s young and raw and doesn’t have much football nous.
He’s limited and out of his depth at this stage of his career.
The top flight is too much for him now. I doubt his future lies in England tbh.
If you are an attacking player, and you play for Arsenal in the year 2021 of our lord and savior Jesus Christ, I will not criticize you. Arteta doesn’t have a flying fuck of a clue how to put you in a position to succeed. I’ll reserve judgement until I see that player under a competent manager.
still worth 100m ?
You didn’t define which currency, so he could be worth 100m yen
If Guendouzi is still worth 130 million then yes
Like everybody else I didn’t see the match but it looks like he had a pretty good game.
He hasnt played on the right very often but he provides something different for us there.
Especially with Tomiyasu established as our RB, the way Arteta sets up the RW has to provide the width on that side, which is always a tension when the RW is Pepe, who looks like a fish out of water on the touchline and can’t put in a right footed cross. I’d like to see Martinelli tried over there sometime when playing with the rest of the first XI.
Sterling played his best football when Arteta was at City and he played almost exclusively on the RW and all he was really asked to do was provide width, look to run behind the defense to put in some nice crosses and pullbacks, and then come inside to get on the end of things at the back post if the ball was on the other side of the pitch. I wonder whether Martinelli could do a low-rent Sterling impersonation if given a run over there.
Maybe it won’t work but I think its worth a try at some point.
Lol
Digging himself into a hole
I don’t rate Pepe but Martinelli has not shown anything to be ahead of him
Problem with Martenelli is he’s not disciplined enough to start games.
His pace and energy is built for impact from the bench as of now.
Really needs a loan to get some significant minutes before we can assess his potential. Good work ethic and energy but he needs games.
Agree, I like the potential I see in Martinelli but he’s not ready to start our more challenging games yet, Pepe has been underwhelming for the price tag but price aside, in this squad his impact is still better than most players we try out wide, which is a bummer but it is true.
Think that’s right in general. But given that he is here with us this season I’d like to see him get a chance to start every once in a while. Pepe is surely ahead of him but Pepe hasn’t done enough to be penciled in every league match IMO.
We keep playing Martinelli on the left but with Tierney as the de facto winger that role requires the LW to drift between the lines and create and I don’t think that is his game. I’m not sure his technical level is high enough and he often just seems confused, with the game passing him by. Think he might do better if given a simpler job as a traditional RW - give width, run behind, cross, get on the end of chances at the back post.
Plays a lot like Alexis, just without the good bits.
He also doesn’t have atom and humber
January loan to prove himself worthy of being kept.
Realistically he doesn’t have much future the way it looks here.
Don’t see England being his home for much longer tbh.
Yup needs to play week in week out, looked diabolical tonight
Maybe he is not that good. Eddie hadnt played for years and popped up with a stormer tonight.
All over the place today and didn’t seem to have much of an idea what to do. Worrying.
