Gabriel Martinelli (11)

Too many ifs

But if we win the UCL and he performs very well in SF & Final with Assist & Goal, will he end up as the player of the tournament ?

Kane or Mbappe, you’d think.

Yup we need to replace him coming summer

Martinelli did better imo

Martinelli was brilliant yesterday. Basically everything he did was dangerous and led to an attacking move of some kind.

The assist was terrific but his all round play was incredibly effective. Trickery, cute passing, dribbling and a beautiful dinked assist.

On the assist he is closed down by 4 players. Absolutely tore Sporting’s defensive shape to shreds. And he picks up the ball up from a very innocuous position, but tears into the middle of the pitch so quickly. Outstanding play and deserves way more credit, let alone the superb pass into Havertz.

He couldn’t be stopped despite their 11 man defence. Great clip of his touches below.

Also noticed the trivela at the beginning.

I am always frustrated at him but overall he has been very productive this season

No chance brother. That shrug off of Gattuso, the weight of the pass right behind Nesta… different level altogether

Yeah, I’ve only just realised that was him. In real-time I thought it was Trossard (who actually went off moments earlier).

Was joking hehe, but I’m still baffled with that Martinelli assist… it’s like his brain finally clicked for a few seconds lol

Would be great to see more of something close this, especially for the rest of the season.

I am still just completely stunned that he did that, it was like another player possessed his body. Great ball but also even more so he had his head up, saw that Havertz’ man was rushing out at him, and that the chipped ball was on.

Wow, you guys really think he’s dogshit, don’t you?

It is because we see what he did, but you just know if he starts for the bournemouth match he will be back to dribbling into blind alleys with his head down missing the most basic opportunities.

Yeah. It’s a shame because I do think there’s a big player there but we’ve been digging for 7 years now.

His decision making is by far his biggest flaw and that gets amplified when he starts games, especially on the bounce.

When he comes off the bench he makes his touches mean more, plays sharper, quicker and doesn’t second guess himself.

Why can’t we have this Martinelli at least 70% of the season. That would be enough

Martinelli is quality but he is not going to become a top class player here. Still very capable of producing big moments. Got a knack of turning up in big games as well.

Love the fact Rice is telling him to pass backwards and then he drives forwards with that pass :rofl::rofl:

Nah I wish we could get what’s clearly there back out of him but it’s just not happening.

Been 3 years now since we saw his best, sadly it’s time to move on.

I think his time is coming to an end as well but if he’s not going for big, big money(60+m) I’d keep him.
