Gabriel Martinelli (11)

What’s the deal here? Is he injured?

He is quick, decision making is spot on, scores goals and is level headed?

Not being played as it’ll hinder Laca’s development :joy::joy:

I fancy he woulda taken one of those chances that fell to Laca during the Brighton game

Great! The curse strikes again

We should change our club’s name to Injured FC.

The injury occurred on Monday and although Martinelli completed that session, he reported discomfort afterwards and underwent a scan on Tuesday to discover the full extent of the problem.

Early indications suggest it could be meniscus damage which, pending confirmation and consultation with a renowned knee specialist, would almost certainly sideline him for the remainder of the campaign.

I think any hope that this lockdown football was going to be more enjoyable than the rest of this season is well and truly buried :joy:

I’m still grateful for it though, not gonna lie.

OA couldn’t have coped much longer.

For me personally I didn’t think it was gonna be more enjoyable I just wanted it back :joy:

not gonna lie, I was one of those. I thought a few months of working on the style of play, tactics etc. rather than prepping for games and fighting for vital points every day would do us a relative favour compared to many other teams.

Turns out we look just the same and all we were doing was buffering up months of injuries so we could have them all immediately when we finally got to play again

Did I hear right from Arteta that he collided with another player which caused the injury??

Out for the rest of this season. Any idea how long the rehab takes for shit like this? Damn shame

sigh

Another long term injury. I’m shocked.

To be fair “rest of the season” is like 4 weeks. I don’t know how invasive that surgery is or if it’s just a small keyhole thing.

New season starts in September so chances are he might be ready shortly after.

I don’t like the sound of the injury at all. Didn’t Welbeck have problems with his knee cartilage? Sounds like something that can easily become chronic.

Sigh

Sad for the kid, season was a write off anyway I suppose

Work colleague of mine had a similar op, micro surgery to repair cartillage tear. Was walking unaided in two weeks and said after a month he never thought about it any more

Guess it depends on the severity but he’s young and will recover fast.
