Unbelievable run so late in the game and having run so much from the very first minute.
dude wasn’t leaving the Bernabeu without a goal.

Scored the winner in Bernabeu. Not bad for someone who’s apparently shit.

Classic Martinelli goal - god I want him to get back into his old form so badly! Hit those heights!

Should do wonders for his confidence. Seems like such a hot and cold player–I like Arsenal’s chances if he continues like this in the semifinals.

He used to score goals like this all the time. Needs to get back to it, the ability is there. He’s so much more effective when he doesn’t overthink it.

Great goal to top off a perfect night!

Definitely getting back to his physical best and that’s the main reason for his good recent form.

Great to have him like this, for a while I thought the old Martinelli is gone for good. He’s just a guy who relies heavily on being 100% fit and sharp, when he’s like this he’s always going to create problems.

Seeing him breezing past that Madrid defender in the last minute of the game and making him look like an old man felt so good.
I definitely thought he lost a bit of pace for good, nice to see it’s back.

He’s a pace and stamina merchant but he’s our pace and stamina merchant :xhaka2: :martinelli:

I just feel he’s so much better centrally, when he can be unlocked like that. He has that R9 knack of leaving the last man for dust, but we don’t play to his strengths often enough. As a winger, he’s finding it hard to beat his man consistently, because he’s hemmed in up against the full back. Centrally, he’s free to hit the afterburners and use space. And we need to be more aware of that. It should be Odegaard’s job to quarterback passes to him like that.

I was surprised it even took that long for him to get in on a breakaway. We could have been rinsing their defence 2 or 3 times before that as well if Odegaard came to the party.

But the work he puts in for the team is important. Vini and Rodrygo put in fuck all defensive effort both legs whereas our wingers were at it both ends of the pitch. Chuffed for him.. took his goal beautifully and gave us a hell of a moment there.

Arseblog is definitely clipping this for the Arsecast intro :sol:

Saka is a game changer and I think I’m fine with Martinelli not being that but the defensive side that Arteta has instilled into him I so important for this team.
You look at Madrid’s wingers and they do not help their defenders, the flip side of that is that they are usually very good at the other end but I think Martinelli has been honed into a well rounded winger (for this team).

Would I like some better end product? sure. But even if we bring in another LW this summer, this guy is a great asset for this club.

He’s definitely a great asset.

He frustrates the bejesus out of me because he has tons of ability, and yet often looks like someone who shouldn’t be a professional footballer.

But at his age, and while his legs are still with him, he is most definitely a great asset. He is deployable on either flank, as well as centrally (which I don’t understand why Arteta seems to have completely given up on), which makes him even more of an asset.

However we absolutely should buy a starting left winger, someone more comfortable on the ball than Martinelli, better decision making and hopefully with better end product as well.

We are now a club who challenges for the highest level of domestic and European football. We cannot walk that distance without proper competition and rotation arsenal.

This is the best he’s looked physically all season.
Seems whatever he’s done during his recovery worked.
Has looked rejuvenated since returning.

Garcia is a pacey bastard himself, as soon as I saw it was him I was worried Martinelli we’re used to this season just won’t make it but Martinelli just kept going and by the time he took the shot Garcia was nowhere near him.

Keep an eye on Martinelli, he already knew what he was doing as soon as we regained possession.
