He did. Although I felt Haaland was given a long leash earlier on to wrestle as he pleased. Gabriel was dumb to let it get to him.

The two had a great tussle the whole game. I didn’t think anything of that in the moment or on the replay so have no real issues with the goal standing.
No doubt it would have been reviewed at the other end though.
Ball should never have gotten to Haaland so irrelevant for me, but normally yes that should be chalked off.
One thing having a battle but when it results in a goal it should be reffed properly. As should the headbutt from Gabriel.

I’m really annoyed with him. He’s meant to be one of the captains but was on the verge of ruining our chances in this game and then being banned for most of the rest of the season which is probably the title completely blown.

I think it’s a foul but also a weird/bad raction by Gabriel. He gets pulled but seems he isn’t expecting the ball to go there, he just never tries to get in front of Haaland.
A very veird situation really. Could be a foul on Gabriel easily.
Tbf Gabriel should make more out of it to get a foul or position himself better. A shit reaction by him even if it’s a foul.
At least Gabriel didn’t hook him like this guy

One of the good things about this game is the ref let that battle run it’s natural course (though it almost ended in a headbutt so maybe not), but yeah he lost that one.
But we’re talking the top physical 9 in the world here so I’m not going to expect any defender to win every battle, so not going to be too critical of him losing out there.

It’s a poor reaction… Haaland is stonger and I’m pretty sure Gabriel is very aware by now he can’t win that kind of fight. He should have been focused to position himself better. There’s absolutely no reason Haaland should get to that ball sooner than him, almost unchallenged in the end, looking at both of their starting positions. Very poor.
My guess would be Haaland just got him rattled, idk… It got personal, he got into his head. That’s why he got involved into that kind of tussle. That’s a veirdly bad reaction for a defender of his level.
I respect Haaland for not going down. Proper player.
I’m sure these two giants respect each others game too.

We saw glimpses of the old Gabriel yesterday with some brain dead moves, especially in the first half. Thankfully he has a partner like Saliba who is always calm and composed.
