Much more assured than Hincapie. I like Hincapie but it seems like he never wins a header convincingly. Want to see more of him as a left back.

It’s not really a slight on Hincapie because realistically, there’s very few players in the world that are better than Magalhaes.
His level has increased year on year since being with the club.

Needs to stop cheering every headed clearence. He headed one out and was in mid-celebration when Brighton had the ball. Just do it after the final whistle ffs.

He celebrates clearances and clean sheets like goals. Reason #157 why he’s my favourite player of this era.

Does anyone think any other defender in world football is better than him?
I would say that Gabriel is the best defender in the world but there is a strong Arsenal bias at play. Bastoni would have a claim and VVD still has despite a rocky 5 months. Outside of them, and Saliba, I can’t see anybody close to Gabby.
That said, he’s won fuck all and has only recently become a starter for his country. With that in mind, maybe Marquinos has a claim.
He’s definitely the best defender i regularly watch. Quite the prestigious award.

If you’re basing ‘best’ on player value, Saliba is currently #1 on Transfermarkt. But value is heavily influenced by age.
Bastoni has been crap this season and VVD is the most overrated CB in football history.
Gabriel is the clear front runner for me.
