Gabriel Jesus (9)

I doubt Raya is focusing on Jesus’ arm.

Clearly you do not know who Jesus is and his many miracles. Jedi controlling a goalkeeper is no big deal for him.

don’t mix up Jesus, Jedi, and Jackass.

and Raya moves to left as soon as Jesus moves his body to that side :man_detective:

best thing he did on the pitch

Losing the output from Jesus and Martinelli is going to hurt bad this season, unless Havertz manages to get 20+ on his own.

You do know that if you deducted both of their league goal contributions last season we’d still have 88 league goals…

We didn’t really have their output last season and we broke our record for goals scored in a PL season and were a City draw away from winning the league.

The fucking state of that run-up, like a cartoon character tip-toeing.

Shouldn’t even be allowed. Run-up should be one fluid motion, no jumping.

The people who think Jesus was influencing Raya are the same people who see Jesus on their toast

Yups, that’s because everyone else contributed massively to make up for the shortfall.

Not sure we’re going to see the same output this season judging by the first 5 games we’ve played in all comps this far.

And judging by the fact that our only creative outlet is not here for a good while.

6 goals in 5 games across all comps isn’t great.

Scale that across 50 games, and we’re on track to only score 60-70 comps across all comps.

That’s pretty poor/average imho.

But if we keep a clean sheet in most fixtures, then I’m not complaining.

We heard the same thing last year and we scored loads of goals. Not sure why it so often gets used as a criticism rather than a compliment to our team. I think a year of data would suggest it’s not an aberration.

Yes, Ode is out now which is a problem but he played most of last season and we have scored once in two games with him out which makes a pretty decent contribution to skewing the stats you mentioned which cover 5 total games.

Your scaling argument is honestly pretty pointless considering the above info and also the small sample size.

I just hope we manage to get the goal tally up, for GD reasons which may come into effect come season end.

Though if City gets what they deserve, that’s one less problem to worry about.

I don’t think the scaling argument is pointless. Where do you see the extra 30-40 goals coming from without the creative outlets?

Scoring 1 goal in two games is pretty bad imho.

Relax a bit. We weren’t scoring goals for fun early last season either. Plus, our schedule so far has been pretty tough and we’ve had absentees too.

City scored 0 goals in 1 game. Just shows you can skew stats pretty easily, which is what you’re letting happen with the whole scaling thing above.

If we score 60 goals or less across all comps without any major injuries, I’ll request that the mods ban me and never allow me to come back.

We’re also on track to go unbeaten in all competitions. Nice.

A bit extreme as usual.

Yeah, but 0 goals in 1 game is beyond ridiculous a point to make.

Looking at a teams previous 5 games is at the very least a sign of their current trajectory. Not necessarily total, but that’s the output they’re currently able to perform at.

My main concern is, without a creative outlet where is the 30-40+ goals that we know we’ll need gonna come from?

Cause I don’t believe the Ode only being out for a few weeks thing. The timeline always shifts.

And 1 goal in 2 games is a much more reasonable point to focus on?

Perhaps it is, and perhaps it’s not. We had a 5 game period where we scored like 25 goals and conceded very few, if any. That wasn’t a reflection of the entire season though, was it?

Any decent statistician would laugh you out of the room with the stuff you’re spinning at the moment. Honestly.

We have to look at the big picture.
We were playing without our most creative player, we have a congested (not digested) fixture and we have to prevent more injuries.

Your observation is, we only scored one goal in two games
My observation is, we have to reserve our energy for three consecutive games, away games.

We almost scored the most goals in club history last season and did it matter?? People want results, right? Arteta is doing what we can to get “results”.

Merino is getting close to come back. Give Jesus and Sterling some time to get into match form, and we will see.
