I mean, I’m sure it’s crap but surely most people bothering to write a review are doing so because they don’t like it.
I think they should either have opened the Beta earlier so they had more time from users reporting bugs to fixing them, or delayed the official release date.
I suspect a good % of the reviews are from people who have pre-ordered the game, and therefore seen it at its worst and left negative reviews regardless of its state at official release. (Not saying it’s significantly better now, but have seen there’s been more updates).
What’s sad is this won’t result in a better game. Football Manager has always been inconsistent in terms of quality.
Literally only enough to have been able to have a little look around.
Honestly looks very much the same as 24 so far. You can even import your 24 save. Haven’t been into a match yet though.
I didn’t want a big change anyway. I like the mobile game as it is because it reminds me of the classic championship manager games of the 90s.
Fully licensed PL is nice.
Edit: played a match, the experience is the same except I had a goal checked by VAR and it stood. I think on 24 they were invariably disallowed.
They released a free demo version of the game, downloadable via most platforms (Steam etc)
Just tried to play it after installing the 1st post-release patch. Games now stuttering more, seeing two footballs on screen. Tactics between games not saving, which means you give the opposition instructions several times over, only for them to be mentioned again during the match. Scorers not showing on post-match summary, Arsenal getting a plucky 3-2 draw away in Madrid (yes, you did read that right - Gyokeres got two, the third, ??? not listed in the post-match summary, must have happened between highlights).
I know they’ve listed the bugs fixed, but none of the ones I’ve reported have been touched yet. It’s going to be a long road. Back to FM24 for another few weeks I think.
Strange because I haven’t experienced any off the issues. I actually found the game to a little bit quicker and maybe snapper since the patches.
not lost a game at home yet
. ten games with a ten point lead
You gonna quit the game?
Nah I always do a beta save with Arsenal then when it go full release I start a new save. So started a save with Middlesbrough.
I refunded, last time I checked I still had the game though!
(Didn’t buy through Steam)
If it improves significantly throughout the year I might buy again, otherwise I’ll wait for 27…
Damn, can’t believe they fucked it up so badly.
You gonna go back to FM24?
I would love to know what everyone thought on FM26 is and why u refunded.
Only thing I don’t like is the UI just down to the fact that theirs to many steps to find things or I have to use the search bar to get to it.
I haven’t refunded, I’m not sure why. I’m not very good with money.
I guess the issues are threefold, in order of importance to me;
-
My biggest issue is the missing features particularly during matches. Managers encourage players, bark at them, check the evolving stats/heat maps/pass maps/GPS data/injury risk on their little screens. It was there in FM24 but there’s none of that in FM26. You set the tactics but after that it’s like watching a badly lit game on Match of the Day
-
The UI. Lazily thrown together, frequent use of Americanisms (thanks to one English language option) in text, ridiculous number of clicks to do anything, no logical flow to it. And so badly optimised for PCs.
-
The bugs, some just silly, some infuriating, some game-breaking. These are the least of my worries because they’re fixing bugs first.
If it was just 2 and 3, I’d still be playing it. They have now admitted they had no idea how popular some of the dropped features were and there’s been a hint some will be added in due course.
Anyway, just beat Wolves 5-0 in FM24.
Encouraging words from their team
Paid to be beta tester for them, the gaming industry classic.
Is there any information on how sales have been? Surely this is a disastrous release for them.
With a record 2.5 million players thus far across platforms and significant player engagement during both the Beta and full release, we are incredibly grateful for your support
Yeah probably, can download an update so that current players are at the right clubs, and roll forward 2 years. Only issue is contracts roll forward so you end up with a strange list of free agents. Maybe someone’s updated that now though…
I note they say players rather than sales though - does that include people playing for free via subscription? And what about the people who played but then stopped and/or refunded?
I suspect there are less of the ‘hardcore’ fan base playing this year than after FM24’s release
