Yea, I was in the ‘no’ list in that poll. Happy to be proven wrong.
Almost as if he missed preseason and then had to adjust to a new league, new country, new language and new teammates.
Even tonight, just looked so elegant on the ball in his brief cameo! What a guy.
He’s quality. Want him starting each game from now on
I got pissed in the end where we had one more chance, a bunch of players in and around the box, him too, and he passed it back.
White got pissed too, probably because he made the run for nothing.
He’s becoming a real, solid option for us. He’s played at 8, LW and RW. Showing some excellent versatility.
But he just looks a different animal now. That technical confidence is back. He knows he’s quality on the ball.
First big test of his Arsenal career imo.
Is he starting?
A huge confirmation of his current form and the trust Arteta has in him atm.
Really hope he delivers again and further establishes his place in the team. Not an out and out starter still, but he’s moving in the right direction. :arteta4:
Btw. He literally feels like a new signing atm. A wildcard in the squad. Simply expected him to have another nothing season and to end up on a random loan and disappear eventually.
But seems he had other things on mind…
Yes
Think he scores
I wonder why he was subbed off at half-time…was he performing badly?
I thought Vieira had a decent game. Not great, not poor either.
Still too weak, needs to learn to use his body better
Took a few knocks in the first half, possibly decided against risking him
He did get down a few times in the first half and was pointing something on his leg to Maddison at FT so I reckon he probably wasn’t comfortable to continue.
There’s also the argument that a midfield of Odegaard, Jorginho and Vieira with Zinchenko joining them is our most technically gifted combination while also the weakest of the weak.
That was the midfield that got slapped around by Sporting at the Emirates IIRC.
Edit: Nah, it was Xhaka, Jorginho and Vieira.
Btw, Arteta confirmed it was actually a tactical change for him.
I would have kept him on personally and bring in Tomiyasu for Zina instead.
Forced to sub off Rice and you bring on Jorginho, you lose a lot of dynamism. Maybe the theory is that Havertz provides that unlike Vieira
Yep. And to be fair, seeing how Odegaard and Jorginho struggled physically, it probably would’ve been uglier with Vieira.
I think Rice’s injury probably pushes Havertz back into the starting lineup to cover for that.
He could have waited a little longer. Vieira was playing well and we removed two players when only one was needed.
