I expected Vieira to be better on the ball. Doesn’t have the Bernardo wiggle when in possession. The core body strength is not there as with one slight nudge in the back he’s touching earth.
Dunno why but this made me Mutley laugh lol
There’s been plenty of times where players come into the league and everyone worries about it but they’re fine because of their technical ability, but Vieria I think is a clear example of someone who actually can’t deal with it in this league yet. Just looks like a boy amongst men
Guy just needs time to settle in to the league and it’s physicality.
Give him time, we’ve seen what our Stregnth and Conditioning guys can do e.g. Martinelli
Tbf, I think Martinelli was one who embraced the physicality of the league from the get go.
Vieira is a different case altogether. Kinda falls into the Patino territory in the few times we saw him. Patino looks transformed since that game against Forest and certainly beefed up.
He got his ankle nastily rolled a few weeks ago and made an insanely quick recovery. Reckon that wouldn’t be the case if he didn’t work on getting his body in shape.
Whoever he worked with to improve that aspect of his game is probably someone that can help Fabio too.
Yep plus Brazilian football is tough. Its not the physical side for me, but game awareness.
It’s frustrating because you expected on the deal he was good enough ,even on a learning curve leeway for now.
We didn’t get a lot of numbers in, but he was seen as one.
Wouldn’t think of losing him like Sambi, who’s always looked average.
None of the falls from Vieira was from pushes that I have not seen in other leagues.
He is just being clumsy or silly at this point, rather than an adaptation issue.
Not looking great at the moment but I’m not worried about him. Clearly talented.
It was quite weird our midfield for the whole game had license to do anything, with acres of space to work in.
Vieira would get the ball and it looked like he was fighting for his life against a prime barca press.
remember how Özil beefed up? he needs sum o dat chicken and rice rn.
Jokes aside he needs to get good at some of the footballing stuff, decision making, timing etc.
Problem with Vieira is that its not just the lack of muscle mass. He has the bone strucure of a 11 year old kid from Kenya.
Still think we will start to really see him ball from next season.
Hopefully Akinfenwa is one, so he can bulk up a bit.
Why does he always look like an emo kid?
I don’t think his biggest problem is lack of size/strength/power/striations…
I think he has an issue with stamina/work rate. I’m definitely not happy with his work off the ball, I’m not sure if he just lacks stamina or he just doesn’t feel heen needs to move that much, but he’s just too static for my liking.
That’s especially visible when you compare him to Odegaard who runs like a mad dog all the time.
If he doesn’t improve in this area he definitely doesn’t have a future here.
I wonder if he is physically not quite right. He hasn’t played that much but maybe adapting to a new training regime or a new weight training routine or something has him off a little bit physically.
He had a reputation for actually getting stuck in a lot and competing off the ball in Portugal, especially for such a small player. But what I’ve seen is largely what you’re seeing. He also just seems to fall down a lot in a way that makes me think his legs aren’t quite there or something. No matter how small you might be, you just shouldn’t fall down on the pitch as much as he has been doing these last few games.
Worse by the game. Can’t manage a 5/10 performance in 6 Europa games.
Must be in the minority. Think he’s found some great positions and could have a couple of goals.
Did we keep the receipt?
