Exactly. If Spurs want to finally build a winning mentality they have to start from the cups, otherwise they will always be like us. “The 4th spot is like a trophy”.

How does winning the League Cup or FA cup build a winning mentality? We won 3 FA Cups in Wenger’s final 4 or 5 years and we still couldn’t win the league and buckled in Europe.
Spurs don’t win because they’re not good enough. Winning a couple of domestic trophies isn’t really going to be what they need to be a trophy winning team. What they need is new full backs, a new central midfielder, probably a new central defender and just more squad depth in general.

I’d say winning the league cup in a season in which you’re vying to win the league can help but on the whole, I agree with the sentiment.
How Liverpool fans believe winning a cup competition over the league (and use this as a means to goad us over the years) is beyond me.
Well, they have won less than us so it would help them winning something, imo.
Well yeah thats fair but losing semi finals though has gone some way to building a perception of a losing mentality. Somewhere in the middle lies the truth of the matter imo.

Now Tottenham are out, the next in line I want to definitely not win it is Man United for fairly obvious reasons, so that’s quite a good draw really.
All Prem sides away as well apart from Brighton if they get through. Could be 3 or 4 non-Prem sides in the quarter finals at least here
